Want To Achieve A Flawless Foundation Look In Under A Minute?

If you’re after a quick, no-fuss, easy-to-apply, flawless foundation routine, you’re gonna love Revlon’s new Nearly Naked Mineral Foundation!

When I first saw the Nearly Naked Mineral Foundation I had pretty much made up my mind that I was not going to like it! I know that’s ridiculous, given I hadn’t even tried it, but I didn’t realise it was a loose powder form foundation, for some reason I thought it was pressed when I saw it online.

My background as a makeup artist has embedded in me that the best bet for a flawless foundation look is to use liquid foundation, and in summer – a BB Cream would be my next choice for a lighter coverage, and thus I just couldn’t see the Nearly Naked Mineral Powder working. So, in my haste to try the product and get it over and done with, I grabbed my kabuki brush, shook some of the product into the lid, dipped the brush into the product, and swept the product over my face in literally under minute, not even caring to try to apply It carefully.

Aaaaand here’s where I eat humble pie! I took no care to apply it – I hardly even glanced up at the mirror, and finished the application in about 30 seconds. When I did look in the mirror, I was blown away. I had a light, flawless cover (that of say BB Cream, sans the sheen) and my face looked COMPLETELY blemish-free. I applied another layer, and I had a full-cover, flawless foundation look!

What I really love about the Revlon Nearly Naked Mineral Foundation is that you can have very subtle, light coverage which looks like you are wearing no makeup whatsoever, just blessed with naturally amazing blemish-free skin (I guess that’s where the ‘naked’ part of the name came in) or you can simply apply two or three more coats to build up the product to a coverage level of your choice – and still in under a minute!

The Nearly Naked Foundation is available in five shades and I got the shade ‘medium’ which is the perfect match for my skin tone. This is actually one of the few foundation products where I haven’t had to mix two shades together to achieve the correct colour, which is fab! If you have olive skin this shade will be PERFECT for you.

I’m now SUPER keen to try out the ‘Nearly Naked’ liquid foundation and pressed powder!!

‘My Real Life Pinterest’ will be a hybrid of real-time and online social media interaction, including instant photo sharing of the Pinterest boards created by New Zealand public.

‘My Real Life Pinterest’ will launch on Friday 15 November from 10 – 6pm and Saturday 16 November from 10 – 6pm. I applied my peripera lip stain prior to putting on my bright lippie, and boom, a lip base that doesn’t fade and makes your lipstick colour pop!

My Halloween Haul & The Best Place To Shop For All Hallows’ Eve…

Halloween may not be as big here as it is in America, but I’m hoping, as it grows more and more popular, that eventually we will get into Halloween here in New Zealand as much as they do overseas. Me personally, I love an excuse to theme the house, dress up and fully immerse myself in a tradition or holiday occasion (I’ll admit there’s no occasion as big as Christmas, but still, an excuse to have a bit of light-hearted fun, is as good a reason as any right?!).

So I went shopping today to pick up few things to get into the spirit (excuse the pun) of Halloween. Just a couple of items to put around the house to get ready for when the kids come a callin. Thankfully we do have kids in our neighbourhood that go “trick or treating”, so we like to fill the house with lots of treats and spooky Halloween decorations – admittedly, this is not great when you have to get up in the middle of the night and you bump into a scary mask or see eerie flickering lights that you forgot you had put up.

I hit the Halloween jackpot with the very first store I visited, which I kinda thought I would as this place is known for going all out on festive occasions, but I was so surprised at how cheap everything was and the range was absolutely amazing! I went to www.marthasbackyard.co.nz in Mt Wellington, which, if you haven’t already visited, you must! They are amazing! Everything you have ever seen on any american movie is in this store! I even tracked down a coveted EOS Lip Balm that I’d been wanting to buy for ages. And don’t even get me started on Christmas decorations (also, if you ever need an abundance of ‘frat party red cups’, they’ve got those too). Anyway, I digress, onto the haul and what else they had in-store…

The things I bought:

Inflatable Black Cat and Pumpkin. These are so adorbs and they were only $3.50 each. They’re actually quite big, so a total bargain at that price.
Spooky Ghost Transfer. Again, this was about $3. It’s pretty long and it glows in the dark! It will definitely be going on the hallway mirror.
Cute Lil Black Socks with sparkly bones. $3.50. Just fun to wear in the run up to Halloween.
Owl Kitchen Towel. OMG this was too cute not to get. I think it was around the $4 mark. It had an owl on it so basically I just had to have it.
Fabric Fall Leaves. $3 These look so cool as table decorations for a Halloween dinner and then just sprinkled along counter tops. Another must have!
Trick or Treat Bags. $1.50 These are for ‘trick or treating’ and as we don’t have kids, and definitely wont be trick or treat’n, I’ll just use them to store candy.
Candy Corn. $4 One of my fave lollies and they look cute as decoration in a glass bowl.
Halloween Bottle Stickers. $3.50(ish) OK so this is my favourite of all the things I bought. With stickers that wrap around a wine bottle (or any bottle) stating things like “Red Blood, “Spider Venom” and “Liquid Phantom” I just had to have these to dress up the wine bottles for a dinner party.

Here’s a few snaps of all the other things that they had in store. I was really tempted to get some of the pumpkin candles, however my guy was with me and managed to make me see sense in that we already have enough Halloween candles to sink a battle ship, so I refrained (although he didn’t see me sneak some cute orange serviettes (featuring black cats) into the basket – WINNING! Oh, and I may have got this witches hat too (hey if the hat fits right ha ha).

Earlier this week I headed to the “Rose & Thorne Fit Studio” to meet with bra guru, Sue Dunmore, who has over 10 years experience in the lingerie business, and is the co-founder of Rose & Thorne, for my very first bra fitting (yes you read that right, my very first).

Now admittedly, when I was first invited to The Fit Studio, my initial thought was “I have a good 20+ years of wearing a bra, I think I’ve got this down”, and although I do LOVE lingerie, and own many, many sets, in a vast array of colours (my OCD requires me to match my lingerie to my outfit colour every single day), bras are definitely NOT my favourite thing to shop for. I tend to find a bra I love (after trying on a tonne that I hate) and then buy that one bra in every colour, as it’s few and far between that you find the ‘perfect bra’.

So, off I head to The Fit Studio (secretly confident that I will show them I don’t need schooling in ‘bra wearing 101’) where I’m greeted by Sue and instantly feel at ease. Chatting with the ladies in the studio, any fears I had of awkward moments went straight out the window. Discussing how the Rose & Thorne style system works was honestly like catching up with girlfriends that I’ve known for years.

They explain that to keep things simple, and because woman tend to find a bra they love and then stick to that style [oh dear god, they’re reading my mind and stealing my thoughts], they have just five styles, perfectly designed to meet all your under garment needs – the right bra for any occasion! I adore Nicki’s “Pink Friday”, so I was fairly certain Nicki’s latest perfume would be a hit too. Oh and what a hit it is! MINAJESTY, whilst adding some exciting new fragrant notes, still has that gorgeous creamy vanilla base that made me fall in love with Pink Friday. The sultry floral gourmand scent reigns with luscious fruits and luxurious fresh florals, and as I stated earlier, is draped in a creamy vanilla, alongside pure musks. The fragrance opens with a magnetic fresh spark of juicy peach, red currant and lemon blossom – a sultry, subtle sweetness. A rich sophistication of magnolia and pink frangipani intermingles with a daring splash of tiger orchid in the heart. Ending with tonka and fluffy vanilla (yum!) wrapped in an intoxicating white musk – a timeless depth finishes the fragrance.

Lets talk packaging… Much like her loud, bright and bold personality, the bottle engages consumers with its outrageous presence and vivacious allure. Crowning her golden face with the most unexpected, glamorously wavy pink wig, the striking bottle is styled with a red-hot bustier, adorned by gems with black and gold detailing. Fully clad in luxury, the secondary packaging design is a salute to the bottle.
