MAC Haute Dogs collection is, quite obviously, a dog-themed collection and is comprised of powders, liners, eyeshadows, lipsticks, and even nail lacquer. Each item comes in a variety of pooch-perfect shades including rich copper tones, deep berry hues, and opaque grey tints. Plus, the product names are quite catchy: Dressed To The K9, Snazzy Hound, and Lipstick Labradorable. Fabulous, right?!

If you remember, several years back, MAC released a Feline collection, in which cat-eyed, winged-liner looks were the feature of the collection (think metallic liquid liners and cool sleek tones). So, it’s only fair that MAC follow up with this limited edition Haute Dog collection.

In the constant and evolving conversation of what defines beauty today, true makeup artistry broadens the propositions and opens our eyes to inspired options of how to celebrate beauty with makeup…

Beauty is diversity – we no longer expect trends to follow a common thread. Yes, it seems we’ll be getting a wider range of trends to suit every makeup inspiration. Amen to that! Dark vs light, hard vs soft, colour vs muted tones, texture vs technique – MAC makeup artists have created a varied mash-up of eras and ideas to compose this season’s trends presentation.

MAC, the oracle of makeup artistry, has given us license to explore and experiment with makeup, combining trends from opposite ends of the spectrum. We can be strong, dynamic and creative, to the point of reconsidering and reinventing beauty classics.

Red 70s
Red lips are reworked, with a deep red contemporary twist on the classic that is a crimson mouth. It’s retro-inspired, but not as we know it: these unconventional reds stem from the rusty haze of the 70s, stopping to pay reference everywhere from romantic pre-Raphaelite auburn tones to the brick shades of the 80s and 90s. This trend represents the reinvention of red lips in red brick, rusty red and new nuances of red.

Estee Lauder: Magic Smoky Powder Shadow Sticks – the smoky eye is easy to achieve, especially when you have the new Estee Lauder Magic Smoky Powder Sticks in hand. They’re clever things really – you simply crayon over your lid and then smooth out with a brush, and your lid really will look smoky! The thing that makes the smoke aspect so effective is that they’re powders in stick form, so you get that sooty, smudged look from them without having to blend profusely as you would with a cream or oilier shadow stick. Dermalogica Sheer Tint SPF20 – as if Dermalogica’s skincare wasn’t enough (seriously dream skincare!!) we now have Dermalogica’s version of a BB Cream, of which, before we even tried it, we knew would be incredible; oh and it is. We’ve been using this every single day since we received it and it’s fast become our absolute fave. We’ll be purchasing this the moment we run out! A lightly-tinted hydrating treatment that provides an all-day sheer wash of colour. Natural, light-diffusing Iron Oxides provide translucent colour for radiant skin, while Broad Spectrum sunscreens shield against damaging UV rays. We’d say it’s probably suitable for most skin types including spot-prone. The Turnaround Revitalizing Lotion hydrates and energises dull, fatigued skin. This alcohol-free and oil-free formula is designed to boost skin’s energy by fueling its natural metabolic process of cellular renewal Turnaround Revitalizing Serum is designed to optimise cell renewal and give skin a healthy glow and provides a radiant smoothness in just four weeks. The Turnaround Overnight Revitalizing Moisturiser is like a charged-up version of the original Moisture Surge – it’s light, hydrating, feels great on the skin and skin looks noticeably smoother the next day. The Body Shop: Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser & Instant Glow Enhancer – the first thing we noticed with the Glow Boosting Moisturiser was the gel-like formula. It’s something that we really love about moisturisers as it generally means they absorb straight away and there’s no annoying waiting time between applying it and popping on your makeup. Next was the scent. It has such a refreshing citrus smell – exactly what you’d expect from Vitamin C right? Think freshly cut oranges… deeeelish! Other than super-hydrating we’ve noticed after application, skin looks dewy with a beautiful sheen, we’re guessing that’s the glow boosting part of it. We adore this on The Body Shop! Nice work. RRP $$64.95. Instant Glow Enhancer – An instant fix for a healthy-looking glow. Enhances skin with a fresh rosy tint, whilst leaving it feeling velvety soft and silkier. Use as the last step of your skincare regime and as a touch up throughout the day to boost your glow RRP $48.00.

Davines Haircare – One of our absolute favourites when it comes to haircare, Davines really can do no wrong in our eyes and the new DEDE range we’ve been using is no exception – absolute perfection! While there are many a collection to choose from in the Davines ‘Essential’ Range and we’re sure they’re all fabulous, we’ve been checking out the DEDE collection… DEDE Shampoo is ideal for daily cleansing. Its formula, which is characterised by a soft and light foam, gently cleanses the hair, making it soft and light, and gives it extra shine. DEDE Conditioner is absolutely fine to use every day. MAC Cosmetics – Wash & Dry Collection

It’s full steam ahead as the M·A·C Wash & Dry Laundromat opens for business, so make a date with good, clean fun. The suds are rising and the gossip is ﬂowing with this breezy bronzing collection inspired by bright, fresh hues perfect for a full spin or just a quick tumble. All in super-sleek packaging to set your cycle to chic!

Yes, it’s a new limited collection from MAC! Yes, it’s amazing! Yes, I’m once again giddy with excitement, as I am about everything MAC releases. But what’s so special about this collection? What are the standouts, I hear you say. Well, thanks for asking; you know when it comes to MAC, I’m only too happy to answer…

Firstly, let me just make mention of the fabulous sleek packaging; as with MAC’s Alluring Aquatics Collection (yes, still swooning) this is one for my fellow ‘MAC collectors’! Bright, fun and colourful, during these cooler months here in New Zealand, we’ll forever be reminded of the warm weather with this summer-inspired packaging.

While there’s no one particular item I don’t love in this collection, my absolute standouts are:

MAC Freshen Up Highlight Powder – although MAC Freshen Up is defined as a highlighter powder, it is also a blush with three shades. I adore this colour combination. It’s multi-purpose, soft, shimmery and borderline ethereal. The powder is finely milled, it’s not powdery nor stiff; and if you’re in the market for a customisable, super-pretty blush & highlighter, Freshen Up is something you shouldn’t miss from MAC’s Wash & Dry Collection.

Morange Lipstick – a vivid orange-red with an amplified finish. There is something about this colour with the gorgeous limited edition packaging. I wore this one today, applied one coat and blotted to apply again. Boom, lipstick sorted for all-day wear! It’s very long-lasting and I could wear it without a liner. There’s also no drying or flaking – bonus! Morange wears beautifully with the Freshen Up Highlight Powder. I do love that MAC thinks about their collections in-depth; every collection works together seamlessly.

Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Trio – I’m sorry, I can’t tell you which is best, these are all just too damn perfect to choose one trio. Ok, if I have to say one, I guess I’ll say Warm Wash (only because that’s what I’m wearing today) but honestly, they’re all amazing, they’re all MAC perfection, they’re all pure luxury!

ESSIE – The Autumn 2015 Collection

If you haven’t yet seen essie’s new autumn collection, prepare to fall in love… When I laid eyes on the new essie colour palette my heart literally skipped a beat! This new autumn collection encompasses all the colour trends we’ve recently seen on runways, bringing them right to your fingertips. The collection consists of 6 on-trend, yet autumn-appropriate shades and will allow you to go bold with a splash of cobalt blue, or keep things understated with a muted shade of taupe.

Partner in crime – rich dark chocolate
Melted chocolate, on your fingertips. This is a rich, deep chocolate-brown shade that is insanely pigmented. This shade surprised me the most as I didn’t think I would like it as much as I do.

Fall in line – enigmatic jade green
a muted khaki green shade that is both smooth and opaque. This is such a beautiful transition shade for autumn! If you’re not ready to bust out the super dark & dramatic shades, then this is the perfect shade for you.

Style cartel – inky cobalt blue
an eye-catching dark cobalt blue shade. It’s so shiny / glossy, it almost looks like you’re already wearing a top coat. I don’t own any other navy blue that is as bright as this one (and I own a lot of nail polishes), it really is a very unique shade. Sometimes dark navy blue polishes can tend to look a bit black, but ‘Style Cartel’ looks rich & bright in any light (both indoors and out).

Dress to kilt – seductive red
A bold & seductive classic red shade. I’m very happy to report this red is a one-coater! It’s gorgeous – super glossy and so far as proven bloody resilient (chip-free for days).

The perfect cover up – powerful peacock teal
A dark teal that is super opaque, you can get away with applying only 1 coat of this polish. It’s very similar to ‘Mind Your Mittens’ from essie but ‘The Perfect Cover Up’ is just a bit brighter and a tad more teal.

Take it outside – punchy, fresh taupe (and one of my absolute faves!)
A beautiful neutral taupe-grey shade. The formula of this polish is great, it’s not streaky and looks 100% opaque with 2 coats. I personally think this shade is perfect for all year round, not just for autumn. It’s similar to ‘Chinchilly’ from essie, but just a little bit lighter.

Now, it’s no secret that I believe essie are one of, if not the best nail lacquers of all time, with their single-stroke-nail-covering paddle-style brushes, their long-lasting lacquer (oh, and their good-to-go quick-dry finisher is absolutely amazing) and their chip-free coverage; but oh, this autumn collection is quite something else! They continue to create the best!

MAC x Philip Treacy represents a unique partnership – London’s leading couture hat designer collaborating with the world’s boldest makeup brand.

Irish-born milliner Philip Treacy has made hats for pretty much every famous head you can think of: Kate Middleton, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Beckham. (Fun fact: He also made that famous hat Princess Beatrice wore to the Royal Wedding—the one that launched a thousand memes.) Shortly after the Royal Wedding, in fact, M.A.C approached Treacy about doing a cosmetics collection. Now, almost four years later, the fruits of that collaboration are available in the form of three bright lipsticks, two beautiful fairy dust embossed blushes, three eye liners that would make a peacock jealous, and two shimmery metallic shadows. The collection was inspired by–what else?–three different yet equally stunning hats Treacy created.
