On Your Feet All Day? Take A Load Off…

skechers

When your chosen career has you working on your feet all day, it’s quite frankly, painful! Especially when you’re wearing the wrong footwear. With the plethora of footwear on offer it’s daunting and costly playing the ‘which is the right shoe for me’ game. You’ll likely have a slew of store assistants trying to push the models that are deemed ‘cool’, but are those really the best options for your work needs? Probably not.

Thankfully I’m not in a role that has me on my feet all day, my sister however, that’s another story… she recently graduated as a vet nurse and went straight into in a role that has her and her colleagues on their feet all day. Whether it’s in surgery, standing on one spot for several hours at a time, or running around the clinic, caring for our much-loved fur babies, my sis and her work-mates were all struggling to find footwear that’s super-comfy and wouldn’t leave them in pain after a looooong, tiring day.  This is a problem for many people, but worry not, we’ve done the hard work for you and found THE best ‘on your feet all day’ footwear…

skechers

Half shoe, half sock – all comfortable! The Skechers GOwalk 2 Super Sock is designed with innovative Skechers Performance technologies and materials specifically for walking and being on your feet all day. I’m not going to tell you word-for-word my sister’s reaction to wearing these for the first time, as her excitement on finding shoes that were so damn comfortable, involved using a crap-load of expletives, but I can report, there is no other shoe that she’ll be wearing, since donning a pair of Skechers Super Sock sneakers; just saying!

Hear are the deets:

Nearly seamless soft fabric upper with socklike comfortable fit.

  • V-Stride technology features unique angled outsole that complements a natural walking gait and promotes fluid stride transitions
  • Socklike soft comfortable design
  • Quick-Fit Portal on heel for easy on, easy off convenience
  • Ideal for Barefoot Wear – Integrated OrthoLite® anti-microbial sockliner helps inhibit odor and prevent slippage
  • Resalyte™ Midsole – proprietary lightweight injection-molded compound with memory retention helps absorb impact
  • Independent circular GOimpulse sensors offer flexibility and feedback for a more responsive walking experience
  • A multi-directional traction motif helps enhance footing control
  • Radically lightweight.

Boom! All the hard work that comes with finding the perfect ‘on your feet all day’ footwear, done! You’re welcome!

It’s been a while since my last ‘Editor’s Picks’, but its been a busy ol time with the official opening of NZFW at the Designer Showcase Luncheon, spring/summer media showrooms and beauty product launches, however, Editor’s Picks is back and it’s back with a whole lot fabulous new must-haves…

CANDLE LOVE – Curtis & Clarke

I’m actually thinking about seeking help for my scented-candle-burning addiction.  I’m now at the point where I have completely lost the willpower to leave a store that stocks scented candles without buying one!  Every time I see a new scented candle in a fabulous glass jar, housed in some kind of luxurious looking box, I’m convinced I must own it (I’m gonna throw it out there, I very rarely have buyers remorse!).  So you can imagine my elation when I saw a candle that promised to fill my house with the smell of freshly baked gingerbread, right?  I mean I love my tried and true candle aromas – vanilla, french pear, fresh linen, peony, well you get the picture… So with tragically weak candle-resisting willpower, here I am – the proud owner of said gingerbread scented candle and I absolutely ADORE IT!  It’s by Curtis & Clarke, based here in New Zealand and I swear – my house smells like I’ve just baked a batch of gingerbread, cinnamony (now a word) treats.  Check out www.curtisandclarke.com

BURBERRY SPARK CAT-EYE SUNGLASSES – NUDE ROSE (Mirrored Lens)

First spotted at the BeatPR Media Showroom day – I have obsessed over these sunnies, from the Sunglass Hut & OPSM SS 13/14 Collection ever since. They are the Burberry Spark Cat-Eye Nude Rose Sunglasses.  Crafted in nude acetate, the cat-eye sunglasses are finished with contrast metallic nickel arms and feature scratch-resistant lenses in light mirrored silver.  I swear I even dreamt that I owned them and woke up severely disappointed when I realised that alas, I do not own these lovelies! They are by far the nicest pair of sunglasses I’ve seen in, well, forever! PLUS they suit me – no easy feat let me tell you!  I find it so hard to find a pair that fit and suit me; and these do.  The nude-rose colouring compliments my skin colour, I love the mirrored lens and the metallic finish on the arms is perfection personified!  If I do not own this pair of Burberry sunglasses there could be tears – REAL TEARS!  Until these are mine I very much doubt I will be seeing the world through ‘nude-rose’ tinted glasses.

MAYBELLINE AGE REWIND ‘THE LIFTER’ FOUNDATION
Luxottica Retail New Zealand, Sunglass Hut NZ, OPSM NZ, Burberry NZ, BeatPR, Curtis & Clarke, MAYBELLINE AGE REWIND 'THE LIFTER' FOUNDATION, Maybelline New York New Zealand, Burberry Spark Cat-Eye Nude Rose Sunglasses, Snowberry, Snowberry NZ, ORLY, Orly Hope & Freedom Fest, Greg Billington, Publicity PR, ali gwynne, Jen Mann, PEADPR, Pead PR, beauty, cosmetics, makeup, fashion, sunglasses, Angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted, beauty blog nz, fashion blog nz, style blog nz, beauty media nz, fashion media nz

Whilst I’m willing to try a myriad of brands when it comes to beauty products (in fact I love trying all the different brands) I have until now pretty much stuck to the ‘big-name-brands’ when choosing my foundation, however recently I was gifted one of the new Maybelline New York ‘The Lifter’ Foundation’s, so I decided ‘what the hell – I’ll give it a whirl’.  Upon first glance I thought it looked quite cool with its swirly spiral like appearance in the container, but worried that maybe it would just be a bit gimmicky.  The reason for the spiral effect is that it has a built-in primer – great time saver if it works.  Well, as it turns out – there’s nothing gimmicky about this foundation – it’s bloody brilliant!  Sadly the colour I was given wasn’t quite the right shade for me, but regardless, it went on flawlessly, you can feel the primer as you apply it and it looks and feels velvety smooth. The fact that Maybelline has mastered a primer and foundation in one is genius! Seriously guys – this is a fabulous foundation and one that I intend to find my colour-match in.

SNOWBERRY
Luxottica Retail New Zealand, Sunglass Hut NZ, OPSM NZ, Burberry NZ, BeatPR, Curtis & Clarke, MAYBELLINE AGE REWIND 'THE LIFTER' FOUNDATION, Maybelline New York New Zealand, Burberry Spark Cat-Eye Nude Rose Sunglasses, Snowberry, Snowberry NZ, ORLY, Orly Hope & Freedom Fest, Greg Billington, Publicity PR, ali gwynne, Jen Mann, PEADPR, Pead PR, beauty, cosmetics, makeup, fashion, sunglasses, Angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted, beauty blog nz, fashion blog nz, style blog nz, beauty media nz, fashion media nz
Even the name invokes delight!  Made in New Zealand using solely sustainably harvested ingredients (from the Snowberry Gardens) and packaged with biodegradable, recyclable materials, Snowberry is certified carbon zero.  But as we all know, it’s all about the actual product.  Is it good enough to rave about?  Heck it wouldn’t be on here if it wasn’t newsworthy.  The items I’ve been using from this delightful range: the Simply Delicious Moisturiser, Starbright Moisturiser and New Radiance Face Serum.

Simply Delicious Moisturiser: Imagine a delectable blend of cupuacu fruit, snow-loving lingonberry, macadamia seed oil and rare NZ forest honey – well this is what Simply Delicious is all about.  Lets say – decadent moisture meets healthy superfruits if you will.  It’s been an elixir for my dry skin (dry tends to be the state of my skin in winter) as it’s an amazing hydrator.  This wee gem even helps to even out skin tone – LOVE!

Starbright Moisturiser: Designed for combination skin (which is how my skin normally is when it’s not the dead of winter) this moisturiser is the perfect daily hydrator and contains a cascade of natural herbal anti-oxidants including grape seed, rosemary, tomato, apple and sunflower extracts that, combined with powerful Ubiquinone (coEnzyme), help to neutralise free radial activity. In layman’s terms – plays a critical role in age prevention!

New Radiance Face Serum: Everyone wants more radiant skin that glows like a hollywood star right?  Well then you can see why I just had to try this serum out. because that’s exactly what ‘New Radiance’ promises to deliver (ok I may have added the hollywood star part, but still).  Containing natural copper peptide – this serum helps strengthen and smooth the skin’s barrier function, reducing fine lines and wrinkles.  Yup – I’m all about combating fine lines and wrinkles.  Copper peptides are essential for stimulating the immune system when the skin is damaged and it also aids with skin healing (including the replacement of scar tissue). This is one of those rare beauty products that people don’t wanna tell you about, because they don’t want to share their best skincare secrets.  Not me – I’m happy to rave about it!  This has been a nighttime essential for my skin and I’m loving the results.  Super hydrated, even-toned, glowing skin!   These few products I’ve tried have got me hooked and I want to own the entire Snowberry range.

ORLY – HOPE & FREEDOM FEST
Luxottica Retail New Zealand, Sunglass Hut NZ, OPSM NZ, Burberry NZ, BeatPR, Curtis & Clarke, MAYBELLINE AGE REWIND 'THE LIFTER' FOUNDATION, Maybelline New York New Zealand, Burberry Spark Cat-Eye Nude Rose Sunglasses, Snowberry, Snowberry NZ, ORLY, Orly Hope & Freedom Fest, Greg Billington, Publicity PR, ali gwynne, Jen Mann, PEADPR, Pead PR, beauty, cosmetics, makeup, fashion, sunglasses, Angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted, beauty blog nz, fashion blog nz, style blog nz, beauty media nz, fashion media nz
Inspired by carefree festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury, Hope and Freedom Fest is the latest drop from ORLY to hit our shores. The collection features six hippie-chic colours ranging from creamy pastels and shimmering shades to show stopping glitter. With super-cute names such as Elation Generation, Melodious Utopia, High On Hope and Coachella Dweller, these little beauties will be sure to bring out your inner-indie.  I love these itty bitty bottles of nail lacquer, they apply perfectly, they fit in your pocket or purse (see: OCD dream) so you don’t have to put up with chipped nails when you’re on the go and this colour collection is making me yearn for spring, summer and music festivals.

Till next time…

MOR – ARGAN OIL HAND CREAM

By now I’m sure you are all well aware I’m a total sucker for packaging and MOR is certainly at the top of their game when it comes to the most exquisite packaging.  Their new collection ‘Correspondence’ embraces the early practice of sending mail with all the traditional trimmings, emerging oneself in the art of communication and taking time to unravel and indulge.  And indulge I did – in this new MOR Argan Oil Hand Cream.  Yup – no longer just for hair, Argan Oil assists in premature ageing and deeply moisturises so it makes sense that it would be a vital ingredient in our skin care products, not just hair care.  I’m currently using the Quince Persimmon hand cream and it’s absolutely divine.  The scent is divine and It’s super rich and  moisturising.  My hands are actually looking the best they have in ages (sadly I get really dry hands in winter) and I’m absolutely rapt with my new hand cream.  I highly recommend! Available at department stores, Redcurrent, gift boutiques and www.morcosmetics.com RRP$34.99

STILA LIP GLAZE STICK

I actually received this in my Goodie Box subscription (handy given I’m already a big fan of stila products) and I’m hooked on this pout perfector.  I love a good lip gloss but hate that many lip glosses are quite sticky.  Not the stila Lip Glaze!  Such a beautiful texture and lovely application – it’s really moisturising, has fabulous shine and makes for a perfect glazed pout.  I was lucky enough to get my favourite scent/flavour – vanilla.  Seriously, if you haven’t tried Stila Lip Glaze Sticks before, you need to!

TRILOGY ROSAPENE NIGHT CREAM

The latest addition to my skin care regime – the new Trilogy Rosapene Night Cream.  I adore Trilogy so I  was expecting big things from this one.  Said to revive, restore and hydrate as you sleep I was interested to see just how well it would work – especially since I only sleep about 3-4 hours a night ha ha!  I always feel like I’m really indulging when I use Trilogy products and this night cream is indeed luxurious.  It has a beautiful texture, is really absorbent (which I always think is a good sign that it’s not just sitting on your skin) and my skin is looking a lot more healthy and radiant (if I do say so myself).  Trilogy’s signature scents are definitely still there – frankincense, rose and geranium, but there’s also the added goodness of Rosapene, goji and manuka honey.  If your skin is looking a little dull and not at its best I would recommend giving this a whirl.  Available at Farmers, pharmacies and health stores. JUUCE ARGAN SOFT SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER

OK, so some might say it’s because I’m a Leo (don’t know that I buy into all that star-sign stuff) that I’m so into my hair care.  Admittedly I am a tad obsessed, well completely obsessed, with using the right hair care products and am always wanting to hunt down that next big product that promises to make my hair healthy, glossy and rejuvenating lack-lustre dry ends and I’m loving this new ‘juuce argan soft’ shampoo & conditioner.  Honestly, it’s damned amazing and I am loving it.  My hair is super shiny, feels so incredibly soft and I think this range might just be the best I’ve tried in a very long time.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!  I’m sure juuce is available at many outlets, however to find out exactly where you can purchase juuce hair care products call 0800 25 25 30 RRP$25

MISERY – ‘CUTE AS HELL’ COMPACT MIRROR

Moving on from beauty – well only slightly because I guess this still counts as beauty – I found this gorgeous little Misery compact mirror last week when I was perusing the stores of K’ Road.  I love Misery’s art so I was beyond excited when I found this mirror in a wee store full of gorgeous trinkets.  I couldn’t tell you all the stores this is stocked in but I found mine at iko iko.  RRP$10.99

TYPO – MESSAGE IN A BOX MINI POLAROIDS

Ahhh Typo.  God I love this store.  I shop at Typo on pretty much a weekly basis and never leave empty-handed.  My latest find – these gorgeous ‘message in a box – 50 mini Polaroid cards’.  Reminiscent of the 70’s, these mini Polaroids are going to be perfect as gift cards and no doubt will appear in future posts as I add them to my photo shoots.  If you don’t have a local Typo store you can check them out online: Typo. RRP is around $10.00

DAN BROWN – INFERNO

If you’ve taken the time to read the ‘ABOUT’ page on my blog you will know I love reading and love books – not Kindles!.  The book I’m currently reading is Dan Brown’s Inferno.  If you’ve not yet picked up this book (unlike me who had to have it upon its release) I highly recommend.  Admittedly I’m still reading it as I don’t get a huge amount of downtime, so generally I read at around 2am to get to sleep and if I’m lucky, do so after about 20 minutes of reading.  Right from the very first page I was hooked and in typical Dan Brown style, it’s a fabulous fast-paced intriguing page turner and I don’t want it to end.  Apparently there’s been a few harsh reviews from book critics, but for the life of me I can’t see why as this is yet another Dan Brown cracker!  RRP$29

Dan Brown, Book Review NZ, Reading, Book Lover, beauty blog nz, style blog nz, makeup beauty guru, Angie Fredatovich,

If you know of any other authors that write in this style or know of any other good murder-mystery, crime thrillers that can see me through until the next Dan Brown book release, I would LOVE your recommendations!! So please do leave me your recommendations in the comments section below if you’ve read some books you think I might like.

The Aromatherapy Co. – Therapy Kitchen
It’s no secret I am a HUGE fan of candles.  Admittedly I do tend to burn candles like it’s some kind of daily ritual that must be performed to ward off a bad day.  But in all seriousness I do feel the need to always have the house filled with welcoming, beautiful scents and it’s just so fitting that I’ve now found an entire range that is actually ‘room specific’, now even my kitchen smells like heaven.  If you’ve not yet discovered The Aromatherapy Company ‘Therapy Kitchen’ range, go and check it out now! Lipstick Pencils
Lip Pens, Lipstick Pencils, Pen Sticks, Lip Crayons – call them what you will, I’m loving these ‘lipsticks in pencil form’.  Typical of my personality – ‘all or nothing’, I tried lipstick pencils once and from that moment on decided I need to add to my growing collection every time I come across one.  The latest lip pencils that I am using on an almost daily basis are the new Max Factor Colour Elixir Giant Pen Sticks.  Application is effortless and the range of colours – swoon-worthy.  They’re not matte, cream, balm or gloss, they’re an amazing wearable texture in a range of super pigmented colours that I am thoroughly enjoying.

Perfume & Pretty Things
A Glimpse into my current trinkets and perfume faves… Changing up my iPhone cover this week, the Chanel is going into storage and I’m breaking out the Louis! I know it’s blingy, but I just don’t care – I just love my new LV cell case.

I was very spoilt recently when my guy popped overseas on business and came back with a new perfume for moi – Gucci Premiere.  If you’re anything like me and have a love for Gucci scents, you must check out Premiere.

Jewellery – currently loving my Colette Hayman long chain, gold crucifix necklace with black diamond detailing – fab for dressing up any outfit and versatile when converted into a wrist-wrap.

Last but not least, my love for tiny delicate jewellery (rings in particular) continues and these Lovisa black and gold rings featuring skulls and crosses are being taken for a spin on a daily basis!
