In 2013, G-Shock celebrated its 30th Anniversary, and this year its sister brand, Baby-G, celebrates 20 years. To mark this special anniversary, Casio Baby-G is taking a trip back in time with a renaissance of the classic DW500C model. Baby-G Releases Limited Edition Styles To Mark 20th Anniversary

The 20th Anniversary BGD500 series is based on the original styling of the DW-520, the first ever BABY-G watch. It features a simple square form that symbolizes the watch’s toughness, a protector that gives an impression of its shock resistance, and a cute roundish “G” logo. The new watch is also water-resistant up to 200 metres.

The anniversary line-up includes models in three colours: the turquoise blue used in the original DW- 520; black, which is the brand colour of G-SHOCK watches; and the same yellow used in the limited edition model of the original DW-520. The packaging is printed with “20th Anniversary” and two stars, completing this watch as a special release befitting the 20th anniversary of the BABY-G brand. The range also features the BGD501-2, a watch that will sweeten any arm party with a cotton-candy-coloured light blue band sporting pink accents.

Last week I had an eye-opening ‘a-ha’ moment!  I have to say that in attending the Kagi ‘I am’ jewellery launch Autumn/Winter 2014 Collection, held at the prestigious French Cafe, I never expected such an ‘a-ha moment’ to occur.  However in listening to both the inspiration behind Kat Gee’s new ‘I am’ collection and what drives her to create her amazing jewellery range, along with a presentation by life coach & motivational speaker Tracy Manu, I realised everything they both spoke about totally resonated with me.

Tracy Manu spoke of celebrating our uniqueness, living in the present, and that what you put out there, what you say to others, how you respond to others, is really ‘the you’ that you are creating and putting out there.  When someone says ‘how are you’ and you respond with ‘busy’, ‘chaotic’ or ‘stressed’, which lets face it, we all are, it’s also how you then continue your train of thought, being ‘busy and stressed’ is what you will continue to focus on.  Basically erasing negativity from your vocab can be all it takes to change your attitude and your way of thinking. I mean constantly verbalising negativity all the time, just cannot be healthy right?  This definitely resonated with me. I can find myself not even focussing on a movie I’m watching, or enjoying my surroundings on the weekend, because all I’m doing is thinking about what I have to get done, how busy I am, what’s stressing me out, and it’s generally because that’s the last thing I’ve said to someone, it’s the last thing I’ve verbalised and so that’s what has stayed in my mind – stress and chaos.   Tracy’s key points – be you, be present, appreciate what you have, what you’ve achieved, and above all – take some time out to reflect on all the positive and fabulous things that are right in front of you!  Surround yourself with beautiful things (this doesn’t have to mean extravagant things), but simple things like scented candles, beautiful blooms, things that make you feel good and make you smile! Appreciate the little things, maybe it’s as small as ticking one thing of your ‘to do’ list. There are so many things that I realise “I am” pretty damn happy about! That I’ve made it through hardships, I’ve made it through things I didn’t think I could get through, I’m proud of my achievements and I have great stuff going on around me all the time – sometimes I’ve just forgotten to see and absorb it.  So going forward, if you see me out and about and if you ask me how “I am”, call me on it if I respond with “busy or stressed’, cause actually, I’m doin pretty awesome!

Kat spoke of what inspires her and how she came to realise that the simplest of gestures can be all it takes to make a difference in someones elses life.  Her heartwarming story of a simple gesture, (of gifting a piece of her jewellery to someone going through an incredibly trying time) talked to not only reaching out to someone, in turn making them feel special, it also cemented that what she does, her passion (creating jewellery) is something she can be incredibly proud of, it makes a difference, and it’s what makes her the person she is today.

So, I guess you can see where this is all going, it all summed up the new “I am” Kagi collection beautifully.

The Warehouse Autumn Season Preview…

Held at the beautiful historic Highwic House in Newmarket, media got their first glimpse of the Autumn essentials collection from The Warehouse.  Rest assured there’s plenty of standout pieces that will see you prepared when the cooler temperatures set in…

With ‘onesies’ remaining an Autumn/Winter staple, The Warehouse (dubbed 2014’s ‘home of the onesie’) is definitely going to be your one-stop-shop with their HUGE selection of onesies for the entire family.  Everything from Tim’s (of Big Brother) infamous skeleton onesie, animal all-in-ones, and a vast collection of varsity themed pieces, believe me – The Warehouse has them all!

As predicted in my 2014 Fashion Forecast post, tartan is set to be a massive key trend, and again, The Warehouse is bang on track with some fantastic plaid pieces (oohhh that tartan pencil skirt!).

A few other key trends making their presence known in the new autumn collection – college chic, blooms-a-plenty with an array of floral tops, satin-esque bomber jackets, print & patterned pants, hot footwear for both guys and girls, plus bright pops of colour (for when the winter blues set in) with the ever-fabulous Rose & Thorne lingerie.

Alex Perry and Specsavers launched the 2013/2014 designer prescription sunglasses collection last week and they’re now in stores nationwide. This season, Alex is not only adding to his collection of prescription sunglasses for women, but has now created his first prescription sunglasses range for men.  And since I’m currently on the hunt for some new prescription glasses (including prescription sunglasses) I thought it would be a good idea to head along to the launch and check them out!

Alex’s new range is part of Specsavers’ designer sunglasses collection, which now includes more than 60 frames from brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Osiris Eyewear and Country Road.

The new collection features two-tone designs and unique finishes including wood grain, gradient tones and bold creations. The always popular, oversized look is back this season and not only looks good, but provides great protection from dangerous UV rays. The new Alex Perry range also includes classic metal aviators, thick bold acetate frames and chic cats eye creations.

Below is a glimpse of just a few of my favourite prescription sunglasses. Now all I have to do is make a damned decision and roll with it, so that I’m sporting some chic prescription sunnies this summer!

Ornate, highly crafted and modern, the ring is a standout piece using three large coloured stones in various cuts (baguette, pear and square princess), alongside gold or sterling silver cast flowers, joined in an arrangement of considered chaos.

Being the fan of online shopping that I am, I’ve recently been scouring the web for some new fashion websites, ones that offer online shopping obviously! Capturing my attention with their slogan “saving the world one bad outfit at a time”, my latest find is SHOWPO.COM (previously ShowPony.com) and it’s jam-packed with super-cute fashion and accessories, and best of all they ship to NZ, so I thought I would share with you my latest online shopping find – SHOWPO!

So who are SHOWPO? They’re an Australian based store that’s going global (when I say going, it’s pretty much already gone gangbusters in the UK, US and Europe). Headed up by ‘Chief Executive Pony’ and founder – Jane Lu and her fun-loving (but seriously hard-working) exec team, SHOWPO started off in a little garage in Balmain, Sydney back in September 2010, and soon after opened their first store, with the 2nd store opening not long after. In 2013, gaining huge traction in social media and rapidly growing in popularity, Jane and the team realised that ‘online’ is where it’s at and closed down the ‘bricks and mortar’ stores to keep up with the massive online demand, making their online store their number one focus. Just like the team that work there, SHOWPO’s clothes and accessories are confident, glam, girly, fun and totally on-trend. Which brings me to the pieces I recently received via their online service (free shipping too! Spend over $50 and shopping to NZ costs you nada!)…

I’m currently coveting the ‘you can’t sit with us’ tank top too.  That might have to be my next order!

Fabulous fashion aside – you must check out their vid explaining their company name change (and all their other vids too), it sums up the team at SHOWPO perfectly! Their vids are so much fun that they kinda make you wish you weren’t only shopping there, but actually working there yourself!  I love their uncensored approach to their online presence – a breath of fresh air in the online fashion game…
