What’s So Different About These Two NEW BB CREAMS About To Hit The Market?

I’ve recently discovered two new BB Creams that are about to hit the market…

Shiseido Moisture Mist BB Cream, BB Cream, Shiseido, makeup, beauty, cosmetics, beauty blog nz, fashion blog nz, style blog nz, beauty media nz, fashion media nz, angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted

As you know BB Creams are the new black (so to speak) in the beauty world.  What makes these two new additions from Shiseido/Moisture Mist so different from all the rest?  Well, let me give you a brief synopsis on both…

Starting with the Moisture Mist BB Cream.  This one really is quite a stand out for me. The biggest talking point/point of difference is that this Beauty Balm (or Blemish Balm if you so prefer) is available in ONE easy, blendable shade.  Yup, one shade for everyone!  That in itself is pretty darn cool.  Then of course, there’s the added benefit of an SPF to protect your skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays (this one has an SPF40), along with Oil Control Powder – a natural raw material derived from potato of which controls oil and absorbs excess sebum, keeping shine at bay.  It’s also formulated with Amino Mineral Complex, a compound consisting of magnesium and calcium, to thoroughly replenish skin and also restore the skin’s natural protective barrier.

But getting back to the ‘one shade for everyone’ part, now I personally thought this would be perfect worn alone for anyone with light/fair toned skin (regardless of whether you are warm or cool toned – this would work for you). For me, I found this to be excellent used UNDER my everyday foundation/BB Cream, as I found that it was quite light. So basically for those of us with olive skin (and darker) you would want to use this as your ‘skin perfector’ under your normal foundation.  Although it did totally even out my skin tone and erase all blemishes completely (which I thought was fabulous) I would definitely use this as my base (and I fully intend to, as it had my skin looking completely flawless).

The Moisture Mist BB Cream is available on counter 7 October 2013, RRP $39

The other BB Cream I’ve trialled is the Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Cream.  This BB Cream is simply beautiful!  Whilst it was probably a little too light for my olive complexion (I definitely needed to get the Medium rather than the Light), had it not have been too light, I would be wearing this EVERY day for the rest of my life!  It does all the things a BB Cream should – conceals pores, minimises the appearance of uneven skin tone and brightens, giving a fabulous healthy glow. It also really did feel incredibly hydrating and my skin felt amazing & smooth whilst wearing it.  The standout is that this Perfect Hydrating BB Cream contains two anti-oxidant ingredients – Thiotaurine and Rose Apple Leaf Extract, which helps to prevent cellular damage caused by external aggressors.  Of course, it also contains an SPF (SPF30) which protects against harmful UV Rays.  I would absolutely recommend this BB Cream without hesitation – it’s heavenly!!

The Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Cream is available on counter 5 September 2013, RRP $65

Tory Burch Launches New Beauty Line…

Billionaire designer – Tory Burch, is set to expand her fashion empire into a new frontier – beauty.  Ms Burch will launch her new beauty line with a fragrance, colour cosmetics collection, and a bath & body line.

Burch told the trade she’d been in talks with Estee Lauder, which is producing the scent, for five years, first inking a deal with the family’s fragrance division in 2011. According to Lauder exec Veronique Gabai-Pinsky, this is only the beginning of Tory Burch Beauty. “It’s really a launch of a new brand,” she said. “We’re starting to build a foundation of a multi-category beauty company.”

The creation of Tory Burch the fragrance was a family affair in every sense. The retro-looking gold and orange packaging was inspired by Burch’s mother’s collection of vintage perfume bottles, while the eau de parfum itself – a “tomboy meets feminine” blend of reviver, citrus, and florals – is a nod to her late father’s signature scent, as well as her brothers’.

As for color cosmetics, Burch is offering up a streamlined collection for women on the go, including a pink-nude lipstick (her signature shade), a rosy pink lip and cheek tint, a bronzer-blush palette, and a retractable all-purpose face brush. “I wanted to do a capsule that was quick and easy,” Burch told the trade.

The bath and body line includes a body cream, body lotion, shower gel, and candle.

The new additions to the Tory Burch brand are set to launch exclusively at select locations of Bloomingdale’s, Holt Renfrew, Tory Burch boutiques, and toryburch.com (the cosmetics can be found at the designer’s boutiques and online only) starting September 26, with further plans to expand internationally.

I can’t wait to get my hands on a couple of pieces from Tory Burch’s new beauty line!  They packaging looks ‘vintage beautiful’, and if her fashion line is anything to go by, I’m sure her beauty line will be stunning.

What’s On My Beauty Counter Right Now…

Beauty counter, beauty, butter london, bite beauty, tocca, stella, trilogy, MAC cosmetics, Clinique, Karen Murrell, beauty blog nz, style blog nz, fashion blog nz, beauty media nz, fashion media nz, makeup, cosmetics, makeup artist nz

With the weather taking a turn for the worse yesterday, I didn’t feel so bad about staying indoors, lighting a fire to get the house all warm and cosy, and indulging in my guilty pleasure – pouring over the latest products that have arrived on my beauty counter over the last couple of weeks, and picking a select few that have definitely ‘caught my eye’ as being ‘brilliant beauty standouts’ to share with you…

Beauty counter, beauty, butter london, bite beauty, tocca, stella, trilogy, MAC cosmetics, Clinique, Karen Murrell, beauty blog nz, style blog nz, fashion blog nz, beauty media nz, fashion media nz, makeup, cosmetics, makeup artist nz

Trilogy Nutrient Plus Firming Serum
This one arrived on my desk a couple of weeks ago and I’m unsure why I didn’t open it the moment it arrived because since I have started using it, it’s become a bit of a favourite in my beauty routine (well actually I do know why, I was still trialling another product and wanted to complete the trial before starting a new one).  It’s said to instantly firm, lift and refresh with hydaluronic acid, licorice and mulberry.  This has a really lovely light gel consistency, with a clean, fresh scent. It’s a beautiful pick-me-up that my skin has been absolutely drinking in. I’ve been using this for several days now (morning and night) and my skin feels and looks brighter and smoother.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion
This is the product I was trialling prior to starting on the abovementioned serum. Seriously amazing stuff this newly relaunched Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion.  There’s no scent whatsoever, which is totally fine with me and it’s allergy tested (for those of you with sensitive skin – this will be good news!).  I have fallen in love with this new moisturiser from Clinique and will be heading out to purchase another tube!  Super hydrating, sans the oily residue that other lotions tend to have and my skin just absolutely lapped it up.  This combined with the trilogy serum actually makes the perfect hydrating combo!

butter LONDON – The Sweetie Shop Lacquer Collection
New from butter LONDON – the aptly named Sweetie Shop collection is absolutely stunning!  A candy coating for your nails – this new range includes all the beautiful hues of Spring.  This pretty and playful palette took inspiration from the charming colours and silhouette of the 50’s.  The collection captures the soft pastel shades of cotton candy, milkshakes and macaroons which speak to a playful feminine edge. A brilliant sherbet, luxe lemon, peppy violet are paired with an icy mint, a rich candy pink and a creamy khaki for a statement that’s sweet but chic.  I’m currently donning Fiver (the icy mint creme colour) as well as Molly-Coddled (an opaque lavender orchid creme).  Another absolutely stunning collection from butter LONDON, which in my opinion, is the best nail polish brand on the market.

BITE BEAUTY – Whipped Cherry Lip Scrub
If you are a regular reader of my blog you will already know all about the BITE BEAUTY range of lipsticks and glosses!  For those of you that are new to my blog you can read the original post by clicking the jump to my BITE BEAUTY writeup HERE. Whilst a fabulous bright lip or glossy nude can look amazing, there’s really nothing worse than applying your lippie over chapped, dull and dehydrated lips.  Firstly, it really isn’t a good look, and second – it doesn’t feel very nice either.  I’ve been conditioning my lips with BITE’s new lip scrub lately and I have to say – it’s pretty fabulous! It’s designed to exfoliate and condition lips and it’s delicious enough to eat.  100% natural, BITE fruit scrub is enriched with antioxidants, cherry fruit acids and rice bran, whilst Jojoba and Vitamin C provide a soothing effect.  The BITE lip scrub has a beautiful mousse-like consistency that leaves your lips looking polished and kissable!  Fairly certain this would last a lot longer if I stopped applying it, solely to eat it!

Karen Murrell Lipstick – Sandstorm
The latest to arrive on my beauty counter from Karen Murrell is lipstick in the shade ‘Sandstorm’.  This is the perfect everyday creamy nude that, like all Karen Murrell lipsticks, contains all natural ingredients, nourishes lips and looks and smells great!  I’m quite the fan of Karen Murrell lippies and Sandstorm doesn’t disappoint. A fab everyday lipstick that applies like a dream and stays put for hours!

TOCCA – Stella
OK, so if I’m being honest – this isn’t a new find.  It’s actually my favourite perfume in the entire universe (yup – I went with universe because it’s THAT amazing!  I used to purchase my ‘Stella by TOCCA’ from WORLD Beauty, however they pretty much ruined my life when they decided they would no longer be stocking the TOCCA line!  Thus I went in and bought up the last 2 bottles they had and have since just tried to make it last as long as possible. It takes pride of place on my beauty counter (and I have a LOT of perfumes! Some call it an addiction, I like to call it ‘collecting’) and there is no other that can take the place of Stella.  Whilst I love many perfumes, and do mix things up now and then (I love Taylor Swift and Gucci Guilty), not unlike my palette, which is that of a 10-year-old, I prefer sweet scents, just as I prefer sweet food over savoury, and Stella fits the bill perfectly. Stella is infused with the sweet, fresh scent of Blood Orange, along with notes of  Watery Accord, White Freesia, Wild Diamond Orchids, Spicy Lily, Sheer Musk and Sandalwood. This is my last bottle, but I just can’t stop wearing it and until I find another stockist (hint hint – if you know of a stockist please comment below and let me know where I can get more) I will continue to spritz this ‘nectar of the gods’ as sparingly as possible.  The handmade heavy italian glass and brass embossed lid Stella is encased in, is alone worth a mention!  Anyway, its ALWAYS on my beauty counter, so it only seemed right that it made it into this feature.

NEW YORK IN BLOOM: Elizabeth Arden’s Limited Edition Spring/Summer 2013 Collection…

Elizabeth Arden, New York In Bloom, Beauty, makeup, eyeshadow, bronzer, nails, beauty blog nz, fashion blog nz, style blog nz, beauty media nz, fashion media nz, angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted.com

Today I shot the new collection from Elizabeth Arden – NEW YORK IN BLOOM.  Inspired by the vibrancy of blossoming flowers in the city, New York in Bloom blends a kaleidoscope of bold, urban colours and soft neutrals. This is Elizabeth Arden’s new Spring/Summer 2013 Limited Colour Collection and it is beyond amazing. It’s not just the beautiful packaging that caught my eye – the product is stunning! Set into palettes embossed with delicate blooms so lovely – you almost don’t want to touch them they are that pretty!

From the intelligently packaged 2-in-1 nail varnish (finally someone had the nous to combine a base/top coat with the actual nail colour), the colour combination of the eyeshadow palette, through to the bronzer that has such a fabulous iridescence it could actually be used as a face illuminator or highlighter, and don’t even get me started on the eye pencil in ‘platinum’ – the perfect hue to set off the tones in the shadow palettes, this collection is set to bit a huge hit for Elizabeth Arden.

Pure Finish Radiant Bronzing Powder
This is available in both ‘Soft’ and ‘Warm’. I opted for ‘soft’ as there is enough of a golden bronze colour to give a beautiful sun-kissed glow when used as a bronzer, yet includes enough light iridescent hues to be able to use it as a face illuminator or highlighter.

Available in Viridian Bloom (blue/green) and Violet Bloom (pink/violet). A trio of colours that compliment each other perfectly with a matte chocolate and a shimmery blush-pink and nude. I’ve opted for Violet Bloom as these colours best compliment green or hazel eyes – I cant wait to get started on a tutorial using this palette.

Nail Lacquer Duo
Available in Purple Orchid and Teal Blossom. Containing a quality base/top coat that makes for a compact 2-in-1 and the perfect size to pop into your purse (great for OCD people like me as it’s perfect for nail touch-ups on the go!).

Bold Eye Pencil
Available in Iridescent Teal, Platinum Glow and Terra.  I chose ‘platinum’ as this is the most unique colour I’ve ever seen in an eye pencil.  A gorgeous glowing hue that looks like a cross between a nude and white, yet not quite a cream.  Very hard to describe but its warm and soft yet bold and bright all the same time. Perfect to blend with the violet bloom eye-shadow trio and will make for a fabulous eye-brightener when applied on the inner eye-line.

Beauty Babe On A Budget – I’ve Got Your Beauty Product Dupes Sorted!

Beauty, Makeup, Dupes, Australis, cosmetics, Australis, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Za Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Maybelline, beauty blog nz, fashion blog nz, style blog nz, beauty media nz, fashion media nz, angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted.com

So I was thinking about this on the weekend after a couple of friends kindly pointed out that I could potentially ‘end world hunger’ if all my makeup was converted into dollars’.  Personally I think this is a slight exaggeration and I did try to justify my beauty addiction by stating that ‘not ALL my makeup products are high-end brands’. Yes, a lot of them are (slight MAC obsessed, I’ll admit), but I also have a tonne of makeup that isn’t ‘high-end’ and they’re great!

I’m pretty sure any makeup artist will confirm that the day we’re told we’ve qualified, is the day we tend to go a little beauty-product-crazy, filling our makeup kits with every single item we were ever shown how to use (this is NOT good when you trained using MAC – cha ching!).  I don’t even do makeup artistry as my chosen profession (no friends – your events do not qualify as my full-time job) and yet still I keep my kit jam-packed with all the latest beauty goodies and add to this kit almost weekly.  However, following the ‘end world poverty’ comment – I  went through my beauty closet and showed them all the duplicates (dupes) I own that most people wouldn’t even realise is a dupe for a high-end brand; and these more wallet-friendly brands are just as good.  You just gotta know what to look for.  So I’ve collated a few dupes that I use, which I thought [see: hope] you might find useful to…

Cheek Highlighters/Face Illuminators: $20 Australis vs $50 Benefit
This is one of my new faves at the moment – the Australis ‘High Lights’ face highlighter.  Now this one is seriously JUST like the highly coveted Benefit High Beam & Girl Meets Pearl (it also gives the same payoff as MAC’s Extra Dimension face illuminator).  The consistency is exactly like High Beam and is simply stunning, sans the stunning price tag. If you love that blown-out, cheek-poppin, radiant makeup look – you will love an illuminating product and I personally think that this Australis Face Highlighter is as good as any other face highlighter on the market.

Beauty, Makeup, Dupes, Australis, cosmetics, Australis, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Za Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Maybelline, beauty blog nz, fashion blog nz, style blog nz, beauty media nz, fashion media nz, angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted.com

Lip Gloss/Lipstick: $16 Za Cosmetics vs $31 Bobbi Brown
The Bobbi Brown lip gloss in ‘Pretty In Pink’ is a fabulous gloss that suits pretty much everyone, so of course it’s popular and in-turn has a price-tag that matches it’s popularity. The thing with gloss is that you tend to go through it pretty darn fast and this can make things quite expensive.  The Za ‘Plumper Lips’ Lipstick in ‘Pink Pearl’ is the perfect dupe for Bobbi Brown’s Pretty In Pink gloss!  It’s the same hue, consistency and wearability.  It even has the added benefit of a plumper, so you’ll have fabulous kissable lips.

Eye Liner Pencil: $10 Australis vs $36 MAC
Now I love MAC eye liners (especially their eye kohl’s) as much as the next person (and admittedly probably own way too many of them) however if you are wanting to buy a variety of hues, this is going cost you some serious bucks. At $36 dollars a pop – it adds up really fast.  The Australis 10-hour-wear eye pencils are fabulous! They’re long wearing, have a beautiful kohl consistency and wont break the bank if you are wanting to buy a variety of colours.  The one that I use regularly is the Bombastic Bronze (I prefer a brown liner, as I think black liners tend to look a little too heavy during the day).  This is a fab dupe for MAC’s two most beautiful brown eye pencils – Lord It Up & Powerchrome.

Beauty, Makeup, Dupes, Australis, cosmetics, Australis, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Za Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Maybelline, beauty blog nz, fashion blog nz, style blog nz, beauty media nz, fashion media nz, angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted.com

Liquid Eye Liner: $10 Maybelline vs $45 Urban Decay
The Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Liner in ‘Perversion’ (black) is another makeup product favoured by beauty gurus worldwide and has quite the cult following.  The reason for this is (other than Urban Decay being a fabulous makeup brand) it’s easy to apply, has a great applicator, it lasts ALL DAY and there’s no peeling, cracking or fading! (plus it dries with a glossy finish which I love).  The Maybelline Line Stiletto in ‘blackest black’ would be the best dupe for UD’s 24/7 liquid liner that I’ve ever come across.  Same long-wear durability, a great applicator, has a beautiful finish and again – there’s no cracking, peeling or fading.

Beauty, Makeup, Dupes, Australis, cosmetics, Australis, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Za Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Maybelline, beauty blog nz, fashion blog nz, style blog nz, beauty media nz, fashion media nz, angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted.com

Concealer: $10 Za vs $40 MAC
MAC Select Cover Concealer in my opinion is one of MAC’s best concealers.  The reason for it’s popularity is it’s light in consistency, yet gives great coverage. It doesn’t cake in creases, can be matched to a broad range of skin tones and I find it’s super hydrating.  It is however, a small pottle and if you use concealer to cover and lighten more than just under your eyes, you can go through it pretty fast.  I’ve looked at a few wallet-friendly dupes over the years and this Za ”Perfect Fit’ concealer would be the closest thing to MAC’s Select Cover that I’ve found.  It has all the great qualities of the MAC Select Cover Concealer for a fraction of the price.

Makeup Brushes: $10 – $40 per brush SIGMA vs $60 – $100 per brush MAC
Ahh Makeup Brushes – this is a big one to tackle.  Makeup brushes are a beauty babe essential and it really is a case of quality above all else.  Poor quality makeup brushes equal poor makeup application and a lot of fallout (not just the product – but the actual bristles). Makeup brushes determine how every piece of makeup performs. They determine the colour payoff of your eyeshadow. They are the difference between a flawless foundation application that looks so good it could’ve been photoshopped, versus a ‘cakey’ application. They are THE key tool in your makeup bag. As I said previously, I went was taught makeup artistry using MAC products and MAC will always have a special place in my heart, however their prices for brushes are pretty darned expensive.  Ahhh but they are GOOD! [stop it Ange!].  Sorry, as I was saying…  To get one decent kit with a good variety of brushes, you are talking some SERIOUS coin!  For the last few years I have become obsessed with Sigma brushes (and I think makeup artists worldwide are now tending to lean towards a mix of both MAC and Sigma brushes). They are the same quality as MAC and are actually pretty affordable when you’re talking makeup brushes.  For the cost of an entire Sigma brush set I paid $230.  You don’t want to know what I paid for my first entire set of MAC brushes!  Let’s just say that for the cost of a whole set of sigma brushes, you’d get about 4 MAC brushes.  Don’t get me wrong, there will always be the iconic faves that MAC produces – the MAC 217 for example, but in actual fact the Sigma E40 and E55 are just as amazing! For me they have gone past the point of ‘dupes’ and are a staple in my makeup kit.  I have a Sigma Members Discount Code, so if you’re planning on giving Sigma a go, feel free to grab my 10% discount code from my blog homepage (the square banner situated on the right hand-side) or use the jump here: SIGMA BRUSHES.  Now I’m not saying ‘you must buy a whole set of brushes or your makeup world is forever doomed’, I’m definitely not suggesting that at all. We’re just talking dupes and I personally think Sigma is the ultimate in makeup brush dupes when it comes to a more affordable alternative to the pricier brands.  In reality, if you’re just starting out, or only dabble in makeup, all you really need is a great shader, a decent foundation and blush brush and you’re good to go.  There’s no reason to go all out with a whole set of professional brushes, just grab your basics and build on your brush collection as your confidence with makeup grows.

And before you go dissing ‘wallet-friendly’ makeup brands, BEWARE!  You don’t want to end up with egg on your face by saying ‘they aren’t as good as high-end brands’, because without letting any insider secrets slip, you’d be amazed at just how many ‘budget brands’ are actually produced by the exact same brands producing your high-end expensive makeup.

As a plethora of matte beauty products hit the shelves in the form of powder, nail varnish, lipstick and more, it’s clear to see that in the beauty world – Matte Is The New Black!

For those of you that battle oily skin, some of these new mattifying products will be a welcome addition to your makeup bag, especially when summer arrives. There’s a lipstick base that will turn all your favourite lippies matte, a nail varnish that will take the gloss out of your nail lacquers and there’s even a BB Cream sans the sheen.

Check out the latest ‘matte’ line up currently taking centre stage on my vanity table…

Australis, OPI Matte Top Coat, Maybelline, Maybelline New Zealand, Beauty, Makeup, Cosmetics, BB Cream, Matte Up, Matte Out, Lily and Louis, Jade Hart, Anna Butcher, Wilson Products, Gurlinterrupted.com, Angie Fredatovich

  1. The Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream is fairly self-explanatory – basically it’s your fave beauty balm with a matte finish
  2. Australis Matte Out Face Base. This lightweight face mattifier works wonders on the skin, designed not only to absorb excess oil but also to even out skin tone for a flawless finish.
  3. O.P.I. Matte Top Coat. This is currently one of my favourite beauty products. I’ve transformed many a mani into a fab ‘Matte French Manicure’ and it applies really well! No streaky or messy topcoat – this bad boy just glides over your nail colour of choice creating the perfect matte nail look. Play around with nail tape and designs and you can create some pretty cool looks.
  4. Australis Matte Up Foundation (oil and shine control). This mattifying foundation applies as a cream and sets as a powder.
  5. Australis Matte Me Lip Mattifying Stick. Transform any of your favourite lipsticks from glossy to matte with this genius little lip gem. Apply as a base coat and watch your favourite lippy transform to a perfectly mattified pout.

Will you be getting your ‘matte on’ this summer?  If you know of some other fab matte beauty products I’d love to hear about them, so leave me a comment below.

SMASHBOX ‘Love Me’ Eyeshadow Palette – Review & Tutorial…

Smashbox NZ, Smashbox Love Me, Eyeshadow palette, beauty cosmetics, makeup review, makeup tutorial, makeup, cacinz, caci new zealand, makeup tutorial, beauty blog nz, MAC NZ, Tanya MAC, Garnier BB Cream NZ, style blog nz, fashion blog nz, gurlinterrupted.com

When there’s a new palette on the market that I’m fortunate enough to preview before it’s release date, I’m always genuinely excited about creating a tutorial. Especially when I come across a palette this good!  There have been many times that I’ve got halfway through a tutorial and found that, sadly, I’m just not enjoying the product, or I don’t think it’s of the best quality.  I don’t ever feature those products, as I’d prefer to showcase items I’m excited about sharing with you, rather than spend time talking about something in a negative light. I will state whether I would or wouldn’t repurchase an item, but otherwise, I stick to writing about new beauty discoveries that excite me.  Which brings me to Smashbox’s new ‘Love Me’ Eyeshadow Palette.  An absolute standout collection of eyeshadows and one that I’ve frequently used since its arrival.  I’ve been trialling the colour collection from the Love Me range entitled ‘Entice Me’ and I’ve very quickly become attached to these metallic, jewel-hued shadows.

Essentially what Smashbox has created is a collection of ‘Love Me’ palettes, each containing various colour combinations that all work seamlessly together. My pet-hate is when a company produces an almost perfect palette of colours, and you love most or some of the colours, but you’re left with one or two colours that you know you are never going to touch (yet sadly still have to pay for).  Not Smashbox – this palette is PERFECT! There is not one colour in this palette I don’t love.

My verdict… Perfection! The Smashbox Love Me palette is what I would describe as ‘intelligent makeup’. Yeah, I may have just invented that descriptor, but it really is a well thought out palette and I’ve decided that I now HAVE to own the brown colour palette from this collection too. The colour payoff is exceptional, there’s no chalkiness, minimal fallout and the colours are highly pigmented. Oh, and the size is perfect for your handbag so there’s no need to lug around a whole bag of shadows when you’re on the go, which as a makeup artist – we tend to do anyway, but I really will try to stop doing this when I’m going out as its completely unnecessary when you have everything you need in one travel sized compact.

TIPS & TRICKS: There’s no reason you have to use each colour separately, blend a couple of the colours together (which is what I’ve done in this tutorial) to create yet another unique colour to combine with those already in the palette.  Don’t forget to bring a small amount of shadow around and under your eye-line to create a blown out smokey eye effect. And if you’re looking for liner shade similar to the colours in your Love Me palette – simply dampen a liner brush or a small eyeshadow brush, and use your eyeshadow as a liner!

In this shot I have used the lighter shades in the palette for the inner and centre of my eyelid and mixed the blue and pink for a deeper pigment payoff on the outer. I’ve used the lighter shades/pinky tones on the bottom lash line and inner corner of my lid

In this shot I’ve built up the colour by building on top of the base in the first photo. I’ve then added some of the dark blue shadow to my eyelid crease and outer corners. Just slightly more blown out with the darker colours as well.

In this shot I’ve added more of the dark colours again, both the blue and grey/purple. I’ve also increased the lighter shadow on my inner eyelid; and I’ve tight-lined with the dark grey/purple shadow using a damp liner brush.

Shiseido Launches New Skincare Range: IBUKI

Shiseido, IBUKI, skincare, cosmetics, makeup, hilton, victoria hannan, beauty blog nz, beauty media nz, style blog nz, fashion blog nz, gurlinterrupted, angie fredatovich

Beauty media gathered at Auckland’s Hilton Hotel earlier this week to celebrate the launch of Shiseido’s new skincare line – IBUKI (which also see’s new packaging for Shiseido’s skincare range, and I have to say, it’s stunning!).  IBUKI – is a Japanese word that refers to ‘Inner Strength’ – a buried resource that can endure adversity and emerge in beautiful condition; and this new range is said to ‘bring your skin to life’.

Hosted by Shiseido’s Brand Manager – Victoria Hannan and International guest speaker – Ms. Mayu Wanibuchi, beauty media were treated to a fabulous breakfast whilst being presented with the new IBUKI skincare range.  I have to say I have very fond memories of Shiseido growing up (come on – who didn’t use their ‘moisture mist’ line and ‘compact foundation’?) and their new IBUKI range has reenergised by affinity for Shiseido.  The new range includes:

Gentle Cleanser: this is a gentle cleansing foam that lathers into a creamy foam, removing impurities and excess surface cells.

Purifying Cleanser: An invigorating cleanser that contains micro-granules to exfoliate away resistance-lowering impurities.

Softening Concentrate: This one is by far my absolute favourite!  This penetrates deeply into the skin’s surface to help build the skins resistance to problems by filling it with moisture. This one actually makes my skin feel like silk – I am infatuated with it at the moment!

Refining Moisturizer: (yeah they spell it with a z): this moisturiser is multi functional and helps improve visible pores, breakouts and skin roughness caused by dryness.  Using this one directly following the ‘softening concentrate’ – makes for the perfect skin duo!

Refining Moisturizer Enriched: Much like the Refining Moisturiser, only it feels to be a more concentrated version and lasts all day.

Protective Moisturizer: As I’m sure you’ve guessed – this moisturiser protects against external aggressors such as UV rays and air pollutants.

Eye Correcting Cream: This little gem addresses dark circles, puffiness and fine lines for immediately more vibrant eyes – I’m quite a fan of this one too.

I was fortunate enough to be seated next to Shiseido’s In-house Training Manager who has an absolute abundance of knowledge on all things ‘skincare’, and given she informed me that the key ‘body-repair-time’ is when you are asleep during the hours of 10pm and 2am, I’m seriously going to have to lather these IBUKI goodies on, as that key repair time – is when I’m wide awake with insomnia.

Check out the new IBUKI line, as well a few photos from our lovely morning with the Shiseido Team….

Beauty with BITE!!

BITE Beauty, Beauty, makeup, lipstick, cosmetics, bellebird, birdstore, beauty blog nz, style blog nz, fashion blog nz, beauty media, Jo Carroll, Sephora, MAC

I’ve recently discovered THE MOST AMAZING beauty brand, and this baby bites back!  Seriously though, I think I’m in love!  I’m even going to go as far as saying (never thought I would say these words) this could kick MAC’s butt in the lipstick game.   Introducing BITE Beauty

BITE Beauty, Beauty, makeup, lipstick, cosmetics, beauty blog nz, style blog nz, fashion blog nz, beauty media, Jo Carroll, Sephora, MAC

Everything about BITE Beauty oozes ‘luxurious, edgy and uber-cool’.  The subtle branding, the swoon-worthy packaging (it’s all encased in a velvety-rubber material that feels amazing) the amazing colour range and the various forms in which BITE’s lip colours come in. From high pigment pencils, glistening glosses to luminous creme lipsticks – BITE does it all.

BITE Beauty, Beauty, makeup, lipstick, cosmetics, beauty blog nz, style blog nz, fashion blog nz, beauty media, Jo Carroll, Sephora, MACBITE Beauty products are all-natural, as in COMPLETELY 100% natural. They’re actually healthy enough to eat – literally!  Unlike some brands that still have traces of lead in their lipsticks, BITE’s products are lead-free (beauty nerd fact: there is more lead in a piece of fruit than there is in a BITE lipstick).  BITE Beauty have even gone as far as ensuring their products are gluten-free!  BITE will only use ingredients that are good for you and your skin, including natural anti-aging properties.  I think the most exciting thing about this brand is that , sure – it’s all natural and the ingredients are good for you, the products are damn good!! High performing, highly pigmented with long-lasting colour pay-off.

BITE Beauty, Beauty, makeup, lipstick, cosmetics, beauty blog nz, style blog nz, fashion blog nz, beauty media, Jo Carroll, Sephora, MACI know this brand is already huge over in America (one of Sephora’s top lines) but that fact it’s made its way here to us in lil ol’ NZ is kind of a big deal guys.  Can you tell I’m a tad excited?
