Lately I’ve come across quite a few new fabulous gems, both fashion & beauty items of which I’m really enjoying, so I thought I would share with you – items I’m currently loving.

I love reading and hearing about other peoples finds (especially when they’re things that I may not have otherwise discovered) so I thought why not share a few of the things that I’ve discovered.  From summer bling for your feet, through to glamorous new lipsticks, pampering body lotions and more, this post features all of the items I’m loving right now….

Glamdals…
Ok so these aren’t entirely a ‘new’ find as such.  You may recall, if you’ve been following me for over a year, that I wrote about Glamdals quite some time ago (you can read my earlier post here: Glamour For Your Feet).  Since first launching, and after much research, many samples and a hugely successful summer 2012 launch, Glamdals has taken off and is now stocked around New Zealand with a growing number of retailers in Australia (they are even going to be featured on Home & Away this summer – if you read my “50 Random Facts About Me” post you will know Home & Away is my guilty viewing pleasure) and now even launching in Dubai! You go Sandra Castle (Glamdals founder), I love seeing fellow kiwis succeeding in bringing their dreams to life!  Back when I first came across Glamdals I was rocking the silver pair (Heartbreaker) and this summer I’m going to be flaunting my gold pair – California Dreaming.  Check out Glamdals’ online store here: www.glamdals.com  They’re also stocked nationwide through all Annah Stretton stores.

Smashbox – Fade To Black…
I loves me a smokey eye! It’s my ‘go to’ makeup look, and recently I’ve been using the Smashbox Waterproof Shadow Liner in ‘blackest black’. This fabulous liner is part of Smashbox’s latest collection – Fade to Black, and is a velvety smooth crayon liner of which glides on so effortlessly, you barely need to touch your skin to apply it, yet the colour payoff is quite simply perfection! The liner is double ended, so on one end you have the liner, and the other a sponge-tipped-smudger. Definitely a makeup essential if you love creating a smokey eye look.  This would also be a great base for a dark glittery eye shadow.  The Smashbox shadow liner also comes in a ‘black gold’, but I’ve yet to try the gold, so if you already have, I’d love to hear about it!

Weleda Sea Buckthorn Creamy Body Wash and Replenishing Body Lotion…
Weleda recently released a range of body washes and lotions – Hydrating, Replenishing, Pampering and Regenerating.  I recently picked up the Replenishing Sea Buckthorn body wash and body lotion.  I chose the Sea Buckthorn because the oil extracted from the pulp and kernel of the sea buckthorn berries are particularly caring and regenerating for your skin.  They contain pro-vitamin A and vitamin E which protects the skin against environmental damage and the natural lipid layer of the skin is supported and protected.  They smell beautiful, fruity and fresh and the fragrance is complimented by natural essential oils from oranges, mandarins and grapefruits.  In a nutshell – delish!!  They smell good enough to eat and the subtle scent stays with you all day whilst leaving your skin feeling soft and hydrated. As soon as I’ve made my way through these beauties – I’m going to have to try the Regenerating Pomegranate range.

Elizabeth Arden – Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipsticks…
Lipstick addicted and proud!  Yip – love my lipsticks, especially beautiful bold colours, so I’m constantly on the lookout for rich vibrant shades; and when a lipstick looks this beautiful (embossed with the Red Door logo in luxurious gold and silver packaging) with the promise of being super-hydrating, how could they not catch my eye?!  I picked up these three colours the other week (‘just pick one’ is clearly lost on me when it comes to choosing out of colours this glam) and they’re all I thought they would be and more!  I chose the colours Red Door Red, Mandarin and Electric Pink – and they’re beyond swoon-worthy.  They apply like a dream, give 100% colour payoff, look and feel velvety smooth and are ultra-conditioning, whilst being really long-wear (I’m talking hours without needing to reapply). Admittedly I was already sold on the lipsticks, however I did look into the ingredients and I can see why they wear so well and feel silky smooth on application as they contain a pretty powerful blend of skincare ingredients such as emollient butters and vitamins A, C & E (all hydrating and conditioning).

Love a bright bold lip that doesn’t dry, feather or fade?  Then you’ll adore these new Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipsticks by Elizabeth Arden!!  My colours as shown below are, L-R: Red Door Red, Mandarin and Electric Pink…

The Aromatherapy Company – Stress Pulse Point…
I have tried many of The Aromatherapy Company’s products and I love them, but why I haven’t come across this product until now is beyond me.  Given I’m prone to headaches and am a chronic insomniac, why did nobody tell me about the ‘Stress Pulse Point’?! The 100% pure and natural essential oil blend of Peppermint & Lavender in a base of Sweet Almond Oil is said to clear anxiety and calm the mind, relieve nausea and aid digestion, and the Lavender eases headaches and balance your body & mind.  I’ve been applying it at night to aid with sleep (or lack thereof) and during the day when I feel a headache coming on, and I’m actually finding it’s really helping to ease tension.  I don’t know if it’s the peppermint easing the headache (peppermint is supposedly a natural remedy for headaches) or whether it’s the lavender scent that’s relaxing me (I tend to get headaches when I’m stressed with work or have been at the computer way too long) but either way, it definitely seems to be taking effect!  It has a nifty wee roller-ball applicator, of which you just swipe onto your pulse points, and comes in a handy purse-friendly size. Well worth a try if you have trouble unwinding.

The Mysterious Mr. W & Me…

MrW&Me, mrwandme.com, mrwandme, shoes, heels, Mr. W & Me, loafers, boots, NZ shoes, shoes online nz, footwearnz, sweet revenge, italian made shoes, beauty blog nz, fashion blog nz, style blog nz, beauty media nz, fashion media nz, angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted

If you follow me on Instagram and Twitter you’ll already know I’m somewhat enamoured with my latest shoe find – Mr. W & Me.  It’s fair to say that this online shoe store has become a little bit of an obsession since receiving my beyond-amazing, gold leather loafers.  So I thought I’d share with you a little bit more about the mysterious Mr. W & Me.  I say mysterious because since posting a picture of my shoes on Instagram, Twitter and my personal FB page, accompanied by a wee blurb about where I got them, a flurry of messages and txts soon followed asking “but who is Mr. W, and who is, well, Me?” “are they based here? what other shoes do they have? What’s the website address?” and well you get the picture – I had a lot of questions! So here’s a little bit more info about this fabulous shoe haven, the story behind it and of course – my BEAUTIFUL gold loafers….

So, a couple of weeks ago a friend messaged me about a fabulous online shoe store she had discovered. Soon after, I’m rummaging through the crazy amount of NZFW bags on my floor (yes that’s right, I’m guilty of still not having unpacked a single goodie bag from New Zealand Fashion Week) when I came across the latest Remix magazine, and low and behold there’s a writeup about Mr. W & Me.  Ok, now I’m really intrigued.  I jump online to see if they’re as amazing as the writeup’s and referrals suggest; and without even getting so far as the ‘about’ section, I’ve chosen a pair of gold loafers entitled ‘sweet revenge’. I decide I simply must own these italian, white soled, golden delights!  They arrive at the office to ‘oohs and aahs’ and ‘girly shoe squeals of glee’, the girls in the office become just as quickly enamoured with my beautiful new Italian loafers as I am (which by the way, are delivered free of charge, New Zealand wide) and I may have taken a few snaps from the comfort of the meeting room table….

So, who is Mr W?  Here’s a small blurb that I discovered (and loved) on the website….
“Everybody has a dark secret and Mr. W is no exception.  His love affair with beautiful things began long ago.  Most comfortable behind the lens, he’s always on the lookout for anything fresh and intriguing.  That’s why he wants to introduce a boutique range of shoes that are not only contemporary and unique but affordable too.  Choosing the shoes for our collection is a collaboration between Mr. W and Me.  With my experience as a footwear buyer and Mr. W’s eye for detail, it is no surprise we travelled to Italy and the Far-East to source our exclusive selection of styles.  But this is just the beginning – you never know what Mr W’s got his eye on next”.

As for the ‘Me’ of Mr. W & Me, well now that I can tell you.  ‘Me’ = Jane Walsh.  She’s a pretty darn clever lady with a world of experience when it comes to shoes, actually not just shoes, fashion all round!  Jane studied fashion design at Massey University in Wellington, and soon after moved to Auckland where she nabbed the role of Buyer’s Assistant for a large NZ footwear retail chain.  After three years she moved to London and took on the role as Wholesale Merchandiser for a British footwear company – Parklane Shoes (they design and supply to the likes of Topshop and Kurt Geiger).  Upon returning to New Zealand, Jane went back to the NZ footwear chain as a buyer.  This role took Jane around the world sourcing shoes and learning all about the footwear manufacturing process, and it wasn’t long before Jane discovered there was a gap in the market between discount NZ retailers and the more upmarket NZ boutique stores. With Mr. W & Me, Jane (and the intriguing Mr. W) want to bring that same affordable price point to New Zealanders but from a NZ company with unique, good quality, exclusive product that you won’t see en masse. So yeah, I guess you could say she knows a thing or two about shoes!

This is what I love about Mr. W & Me, they stock a limited, well-thought-out selection of quality shoes, that are totally affordable.  I’ve not seen a single pair of shoes on www.mrwandme.com that go beyond the $150 price point.   My golden hued shoes were $124.99, now for a pair of leather Italian flats, tell me that’s not the best price ever! Not to mention somewhat handy that they’re so affordable, as now that I’ve seen my gold ‘Sweet Revenge’ shoes in person, I must have the same shoes in nude…. aaaand I definitely need a pair of the Ground Control heels (they are literally to-die-for!), and I probably also need Second Glance in white (oh I really hope my guy isn’t reading this post, although he probably will, so it’s at this point I’d like to state ‘it’s all about need, not want, and I need these shoes!).

The Shopping Edit & Committing The Ultimate Fashion Sin…

boohoo.com, fashion editorial, fashion, shopping edit, WIWT, OOTD, fashion blog nz, stye blog nz, beauty blog nz, fashion media nz, beauty media nz, kimono, jumpsuit, sneakers, accessories, rose gold, heels, shoes, angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted.com

So I did a little online shopping [see: ‘a lot’ of online shopping] on boohoo.com last week and I’ve pulled together a shopping edit – a little sneak peek at what I purchased, of which arrived on my doorstep this week.  Now before you go judging me when you see these items, as mentioned in the title, yes I have officially committed the ultimate fashion sin! I bought two items with exactly the same fabric and print. Now I just want to justify my actions by clarifying that I absolutely WILL NOT be wearing these two items with the same fabric and print, together! Ever!

It’s literally taken me weeks to try to decide which piece to buy out of the two, meanwhile I had other items sitting in my basket that I didn’t want to miss out on. So in typical ‘me’ fashion, I gave up trying to make a choice and bought both. I promise these will never be worn as a combo!

Now that I feel like I’ve justified myself – here is my boohoo.com shopping edit…

1 boohoo.com Boutique Sandrine oriental print jumpsuit  This is pretty much going to be my ‘go to’ jumpsuit in spring/summer. Everything about this jumpsuit is divine! I love the floaty fabric, zip detailing and the racerback styling.   You can find this on boohoo.com HERE.

boohoo.com Lucille Gold Metallic Trim Hi Top Wedge  (or snedges as we like to call them). The snedges trend has been pretty big this winter and continues to grow.  I’m looking forward to rocking these with skirts and dresses throughout the warmer season.  The rose-gold accent gives these just a little more edge than the typical everyday snedge.  You can find these on boohoo HERE. (admittedly there aren’t too many sizes left in this sneaker style, so if you’re considering purchasing these – get in quick!)

boohoo.com Leah Peeptoe Knot Front Glitter Heels  I love a peeptoes, and these heels in a muted tone with glitter accent are the perfect nude heels to dress up any outfit.  You can find them on boohoo HERE.

boohoo.com Natalie Blue And Gold Plate Earrings  This colour combo is one of my favourite accessory looks for spring/summer and will go with pretty much everything. The perfect ‘drop-length’ and look for the chic boho vibe. You can find these on boohoo HERE.

5 boohoo.com Amy Stud Detail Clutch Bag  I am obsessed with this clutch in the perfect tan hue.  It comes with a detachable strap so its going to be a pretty universal piece, and the colour (my obsession in bag colour) works with any outfit.  The detailing is chic and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this during fashion week and right throughout spring and summer.  You can find this on boohoo HERE.

6 boohoo.com Jess Kimono Long Sleeve Jacket  This is probably my favourite of all the pieces I bought! With kimono’s being the biggest fashion trend for spring/summer this is going to give me a LOT of wear.  I’m planning on teaming it with a black jumpsuit (no, not my matching jumpsuit) and nude heels for an uber-cool dressy look, and paired with dress-shorts or jeans for a chic daytime look.  You can find this on boohooHERE.

I hope this Shopping Edit gave you a little Spring/Summer style inspiration, or at least a glimpse into what I’m loving for the upcoming season.

Happy Shopping!

Last week fashion media were invited to view The Warehouse Spring Collection.  Awash with all the colours you’d expect to see in Spring and Summer, we are once again in for a great season of on-trend from Garage, Maya, Active Intent and of course their beautiful accessories and lingerie ranges – H&H and Rose & Thorne.

Keep an eye out for Garage’s two key trends: Varsity Girl and Mod Love which are influenced by American college wear.  They feature a range of baseball style jackets, swing dresses and of course the ever popular monochrome trend. My favourite being the ‘kenzo-inspired’ sweatshirt in navy blue.  Check out some of our highlights in snaps, along with a few of our favourite pieces:

A Walk-In Shoe Wardrobe and A ‘Magical Faraway Tree’…

Number One Shoes, WalkInWardrobe, Number One Shoes NZ, StarseedPR, Fashion Media nz, beauty media nz, fashion blog nz, style blog nz, beauty blog nz, angie fredatovich, shoes, heels, runway

Yesterday afternoon fashion media attended the Number One Shoes Spring Preview event.  Not just any preview – we walked straight into a gigantic ‘walk-in shoe wardrobe’ setup (imagine Barbie’s shoe wardrobe in adult size).  This is every girls dream right?  Especially this girl – I own over 250 pairs of shoes and I tell you what, I could have done with this set-up for my collection!

With a strong monochrome theme and a focus on sports couture, we were greeted by a sea of striking black and white, stripes and zigzags, along with snedges-a-plenty (wedged sneakers definitely need their own name, and that name is snedges).  Also featured – Urban Ethnic Fusion (a mash-up of prints), High Contrast (monochrome featuring pops of citrus colour), Road Trip (flat and heeled ankle boots) and Colour Me Crazy (a collection of soft saccharine shades of candy colours).

Once again the fabulous girls of Starseed PR created a ‘Number One Shoes Wonderland’, complete with ‘Magical Faraway Tree’.  For those of you too young to know what this is – The Faraway Tree was a series of children’s stories by Enid Blyton. The stories take place in an enchanted forest in which a gigantic magical tree grows – the eponymous “Faraway Tree”.  Media were invited to select their favourite pair of shoes from the Spring collection, write the name of the pair of shoes they wished to receive on a tag (I wished for snedges), then tie their tag onto the magical faraway tree! (well it was a magnolia tree situated in the middle of a ‘high tea’ setting, but it looked pretty darn magical).  Cool right?

Max Spring 2013 Collection – Loaded With Style…

Max, Max Fashions, Style, Spring Collection, Media Preview, shoes, heels, fashion blog nz, style blog nz, beauty blog nz, beauty media nz, NZ PR, Angie Fredatovich, Gurlinterrupted.com

Gurlinterrupted headed along to the Max Spring 2013 Media Preview Day to view the 3 new Spring style collections: Life in Black and White, Rock ‘n’ Roses and Urban Bloom.

Life in Black and White is a monochromatic mix of structured pieces in sharp shapes with a nod to the swinging sixties.  Rock ‘n’ Roses comes packed with attitude and street cred immortalised in distressed print tees worked back with denim for casual chic, and Urban Bloom – a beautiful collection that bursts with colour, texture and floral prints.

There were definitely some standouts for me – the Spliced PU Ponte Pant, a black ‘Hepburn’ style sleeveless dress and an amazing white ‘bleeding heart’ tee with a chiffon ‘cross’ feature on the back.  Don’t even get me started on their metallic brogues. They are to-die-for!!

Check out my snaps from the media preview day, along with just a few of my favourite pieces from the new Max Spring 2013 collections…

Today felt like a casual comfort day, so it was on with my favourite sweatshirt of the season, a pair of boyfriend jeans and flats and I was all set for a chilled out day of mini moments – cafe food, hot chocolates, people-watching, magazine reading and maybe just a spot of shopping.

What I Wore Today…

DIY These Leopard Head Loafers…

DIY, Leopard Loafers, style blog nz, beauty blog nz, Angie Fredatovich, www.gurlinterrupted.com, rubi, loafers, shoes, fashion, style, Angie Fredatovich, gurlinterrupted

A while ago I posted a pic of these loafers on my Facebook page and was immediately inundated with emails, comments and tweets from people asking where they could purchase them from.   Sadly, these loafers aren’t sold here in New Zealand, however you can purchase them from the US and/or online and they range in price anywhere between US$30 to $350.  With that in mind I pondered ‘just how hard could it be to make these?’  The answer – damn easy!

I found the EXACT same leopard head embellishments in K-Mart for just $6.  They’re actually a necklace, but I soon DIY’d these bad boys off their chains and straight onto my shoes.  These are stock-standard necklaces in K-Mart (in the US I’m assuming they are probably in Target) so I know you can still buy them in-store now.  Then I grabbed 2 for $25 loafers from Rubi and I was good to go!

Here’s a step by step guide to making your own ‘leopard head loafers’ just in time for winter.  I do love a good pair of loafers in winter!

Here’s what you’ll need:
Leopard Embellishments
Loafers/Ballet flats
A Marker Pen (I used a white marker from Typo, as it’s white it’s easier to see on black fabric)
Super Glue
A Ruler
Pliers

1. Remove leopard embellishment from chain with pliers

2. Mark out on each shoe where you want the embellishment to sit (this way you can ensure it sits evenly on both shoes)

3. Attach the embellishments directly onto your shoes

Viola – you’re done.  Pretty cute loafers for under $40

Now, I didn’t add the gold embellishment to the tips of the shoes as shown in the original photo (thats just personal preference) however if you wanted to do this you could, as they have the gold tips available at Spotlight and you can just attach those with super glue as well.

The Warehouse Has Winter Fashion All Wrapped Up…

The Warehouse, SparkActivate, Spark PR, Winter Launch, Winter Fashion, style blog nz, fashion blog nz, beauty blog nz, new zealand blogger, gurlinterrupted.com, Angie Fredatovich

On Wednesday I attended The Warehouse Winter Fashion Launch held at The Food Truck Garage, located in the über cool new City Works Depot and from what I saw on display, there are so many fantastic and affordable items about to arrive in-store at The Warehouse.

One of my favourite things to do when it comes to fashion is mix chain-store finds with high-end labels. I’ve always said ‘money can’t buy style’, so when someone can pull together a fabulous outfit no matter the label, THAT is when you know they have a true sense of style. If you too like to mix ‘affordable’ with ‘high-end’, you definitely want to check out The Warehouse to get your hands on some of the fabulous on-trend items that are arriving in-store daily.

Check out some of my favourite finds from the winter launch..
