We’ve reflected on our favourite fashion and beauty trends from 2013, recapping on another year gone by. But what’s in store for 2014?
Actually 2014 fashion is looking pretty damn good! There are some exciting new trends that you can count on seeing throughout 2014, all of which will be a welcome new change from the same old, same old of 2013. With that being said, when it comes to fashion, never has the saying “history repeats itself” been more apt, as we see snippets of the 40’s, 60, 70’s and even the 90’s throughout the upcoming 2014 trends .
From flared, wide-legged pants to bomber jackets, tartan and pleats, here are the upcoming fashion trends that you can start to shimmy into your wardrobe in preparation of the year ahead. We predict you’ll see on the streets throughout 2014…
FLORAL
Yes, hardly a shock that floral is once again on-trend. It’s pretty much a spring/summer staple. However those that think floral is passé, think again – floral is here to stay in 2014 and it’s hotter than ever. I’m personally partial to this fabulous floral “Luck Be A Lady” dress from Modcloth.com (ok truth be known, I’m partial to pretty much everything from Modcloth). Luck be a Lady Dress In Garden
PASTEL
Not unlike our floral friend, there’s generally a hint of pastel during the warmer months, however this year it’s a lot more prominent, like this Saccharine Shirt Dress from nastygal.com which features colour blocking, rather than just a hint: The Saccharine Shirt Dress

WIDE-LEGGED TROUSERS
Yay for a fresh new pant trend! I have to say, I do love a flared trouser reminiscent of the 40’s and 70’s. We’ve been sauntering in skinny’s for long enough. Loving this pair of wide leg jeans in raw denim from ASOS: MiH Jeans Valencia Wide Leg

BOMBER JACKETS
The bomber trend sneaks on through to 2014 from ’13. A cropped, relaxed piece that oozes sports-luxe. Choose jackets made from silk, leather, or a beautiful feature-print. This silver bomber from nastygal.com is perfect for day or night: Dusted Bomber Jacket

PLEATED SKIRTS
Keeping the hem of your pleated skirt to the knee or just below, will ensure you look more ‘French-chic’ than ‘high-school musical’. This Pleat Sunray Pink Skirt from TopShop is perfection: Sunray Pleat Skirt
THE SLIP DRESS
A slip dress is feminine and simple, but there’s a fine line between lingerie and slip dress. To avoid looking like you’re wearing lingerie, team it with weightier items such as boots, a military-style jacket or chunky cardigan. Just please, oh please, do not wear it over a white t-shirt (can you say Claire Danes – My So Called Life?!). Have onlookers green with envy with this TopShop number: Jacquard Satin Swing Slip Dress

TARTAN
Check, tartan, plaid – call it whatever you please, just make sure you’re donning the checkered trend in 2014. This ASOS Helene Berman Classic College Coat in Tartan Check is oh so chic! Helene Berman Coat
OVERSIZED SHIRTS
Think Wolf of Wall Street meets Alexander Wang’s now-notorious periwinkle boxer-suit. Probably one of my favourite looks for 2014, and this ASOS Pinstripe Oversize Smock Shirt is ‘corporate-casual’ perfection: Overized Smock Shirt

Which trends are you most looking forward to donning this year?
