With the launch of Max’s new Winter 2014 Collection, I think it’s fairly safe to say – finding the perfect coat for the cooler months ahead is NOT going to be a problem! Whilst Max has a myriad of on-trend garments to choose from in their new range, it’s their coats and jackets (oh, and the most fabulous fedora I’ve seen to date) that have captured my attention.
To me, coats are what Max has always done best – their signature piece so to speak, and it appears, with their winter 2014 range, they’ve come back with a hiss and a roar to stamp their mark on the coat and jacket territory.
The seasonal coat comes to life with military styling, zip hardware detail, pleather and fur accents to cement a luxe look and feel. Style and practicality is fused together with beautiful cashmere and soft wool fabrics. The Cashmere Long Coat and Funnel Swing Coat nod to their classic heritage with an injection of modern relevance through colour and styling, and exquisite leathers that take you from day to night are just one more offering you can expect to find in the Max winter range.
As for the classic winter fedora – well this year Max has absolutely nailed it! I’ve been searching for the perfect fedora for quite some time now. One that I can basically live in throughout winter, and I’ve finally found it – the Max ‘camel fedora’ is an absolute stunner! If you’ve been searching for one yourself – you’re going to love this beauty.
Check out my ‘key coat picks’ from the new Max Winter 2014 Collection (with a guest appearance from the camel fedora of course!)….

On 24 March, The Warehouse is launching two new hosiery ranges: CLiO Girl and CLiO Italian, which quite frankly, are damned cool! From a sassy suspender print through to quirky animal motifs (yes I need a pair of ‘Pet Shop Tights’ featuring a cat and dog on each knee) polka dots, sheers, opaque tights and more, The Warehouse’ new stylish hosiery range has got you covered!
Exclusive to The Warehouse, CLiO Girl brings sass and attitude to any outfit, with its fun range of hosiery. CLiO Italian is a quality range of silky hosiery made in Italy using Italian materials and mills, offering wardrobe essentials with products including soft shine pantyhose and opaque tights, with prices starting at only $8. I mean seriously, at that starting price it makes quality italian hosiery totally affordable, and I don’t know about you, but given the way I go through tights – these incredible prices are going to be a godsend for me during winter!
To coincide with the addition of CLiO Girl and CLiO Italian to its shelves, The Warehouse is also re-launching its everyday hosiery range, H&H.
The H&H Basic range is priced at only $5 where the H&H Premium range is priced between $5 and $12. With smart new branding and a greater choice in styles, you can afford to stock up on more than one pair!
The Warehouse just keeps upping its game and this new hosiery range is another prime example that ‘quality CAN be affordable’.

Definition: A d’Orsay style flat is a woman’s shoe in which the vamp of the shoe is cut away very close to the toe cup, and the sides are cut away, revealing the arch of the foot. The d’Orsay is often referred to as the two-piece flat, but I like to call it “the bikini of the shoe world”. With just a toe and heel cup, it feels like something between a sandal and a flat.
Not since Isabel Marant’s “Dicker” boot has a shoe taken the world by storm like Jenni Kayne’s D’Orsay. Arguably the sexiest non-heel to date, the pointy-toed flat flashes more skin than your average loafer and shows more sophistication than a ballet slipper. Luckily for us, other brands were quick to create their own version of Kayne’s D’Orsay flat (hurrah!) which means an abundance of d’Orsay styles and colours, that are totally affordable!
Here’s a few of my favourite bargain-buy and splurge-worthy d’Orsay flats…
ASOS Two Part Multi Print Flat Shoes NZD$36.14
Number One Shoes Iris print Flat $29.99
Number One Shoes Black Iris flat $29.99
Overland Isabella Anselmi Demi NZD $159.90
My absolute faves (and a fab copy of the Isabel Marant shoe) from www.heels.com Chinese Laundry ‘Easy Does It’ Rose Gold d’Orsay $59.99
Glassons Pointed Toe Flats in Camo $34.99
The Iconic Quebec Flat $39.95
Zara pointed flats $89.00
TIP: Some d’Orsay flats have a small piece of elastic across the inside back of the heel (for example the Glassons flats) and unfortunately this can rub and be a little painful. I’ve cut the elastic out of mine and put some ‘gel heel grips’ in place of the elastics and now they’re super comfy!

One of New Zealand’s hottest events – 10 Days of Fashion in the City, has officially wrapped up for 2014 (yes I hear makeup artists and stylists breathe a sigh of relief too!). Events such as The Height of Fashion (a lunch and fashion show with New Zealand designers) and New Zealand’s Longest Catwalk (presented by Schwarzkopf) were just a couple of the attractions that showcased New Zealand’s finest, in Auckland’s Heart of the City.
One of the ’10 Days of Fashion in the City’ standouts has to be New Zealand’s Longest Catwalk (styled by none other than NZ’s hottest stylist – Kylie Cooke) where over 4,000 people watched as traffic came to a standstill and designer and streetwear dominated Auckland’s Queen St. The record-breaking golden mile was style central as the latest looks were brought to spectators on a 125 meter long stretch of runway.
If you missed all this fabulousness (yes, fabulousness is now a word!) you can check out all the highlights from ’10 Days of Fashion in the City’ right here…

From English Rose to English Glamour – this winter Farmers has launched what I would describe as their hottest collection to date! Without wanting to sound harsh, or like they haven’t been great in the past, because in actual fact they’ve always been pretty good, but wow Farmers has REALLY up’d their game for Autumn/Winter 2014. I was actually blown away with just how many fabulous pieces I was coveting after viewing their latest collection – a collection that embraces several eras of iconic British style.
This year Farmers has some new brand offerings as well: Stella and Estelle ensure plus-size-fashion is anything but drab by encapsulating all the hottest key trends and hues. The Clothing Company has come on board and will be in-store early March, along with NZ label – Kissed by the Moon. Handbag company – Melie Bianco is also new to Farmers and is instore now.
From the most beautiful of embellishments, florals, tweed & faux fur, through to plaid, biker boots and sexy primal prints, Farmers has captured British style in every way. Check out some of their key trends (English Rose, Sloane Ranger, Punk and English Glamour) along with just a few (there were so many pieces I loved) of my top picks from the ‘royal celebration’ that is ‘Farmers Autumn/Winter 2014’…
Punk Co-ordinate punk elements with sophisticated checks and a pair of biker boots or add a hint of leopard print and a chunky chain necklace to complete the look. Add a little attitude to your wardrobe with a collection that pays homage to the British punk era.
Sloane Ranger
A trend favoured by generations of royals; think effortless sophistication for your daily winter outings. Staples in your wardrobe should include pussy bow shirts, baker boy caps, an elegant trench coat and your favourite loafers to match.
English Rose Floral motifs and prints continue to adorn garments from fitted dresses to floaty blouses. Embrace your feminine side with wintery florals and delicate accessories when coordinating your autumn / winter wardrobe.
English Glamour Featuring a muted palette, fitted silhouettes and mid-length coats, the new collection captures effortless London glamour through items inspired by a 1960s scene. Beads and opulent lace, paired with tweed, houndstooth and faux fur create an impeccable Regent Street look.
Lingerie and Sleepwear
Farmers your department store also offers a beautiful collection of lingerie from classic brands to the new and notable.
The intimates range includes delicate and crafted lace undergarments from brands Elle Macpherson, Von Follies by Dita Von Teese and Acapella. Berlei, Bendon Active, Superfit Active, Triumph and Jockey complete the comfortable fit and sport sections whilst the mix and match range add a pop of colour with brands Ambra, Honey Vegas and Perfects.
I was very recently flown to Melbourne for a “Like A Boss” experience at the 2014 Big Day Out (I know, lucky right?!) But let’s be honest, there’s no way I was going to visit Australia without shopping up a storm, and shop up a storm I did! I’ve amassed quite a haul!
I love watching other people’s ‘haul’ videos, so I thought why not show you what I bought over in Melbourne via my own haul video. There’s everything from Victoria Secret to Zara, Steve Madden to Sportsgirl, a few cool vintage finds, plus a whole lot more. So, grab a cup of tea (or maybe a cheeky vino) and get comfy coz its gonna be a long one (what can I say, I bought a lot of stuff!).
Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube Channel and hit ‘thumbs up’ to let me know you want to see more haul videos.

Last week I had an eye-opening ‘a-ha’ moment! I have to say that in attending the Kagi ‘I am’ jewellery launch Autumn/Winter 2014 Collection, held at the prestigious French Cafe, I never expected such an ‘a-ha moment’ to occur. However in listening to both the inspiration behind Kat Gee’s new ‘I am’ collection and what drives her to create her amazing jewellery range, along with a presentation by life coach & motivational speaker Tracy Manu, I realised everything they both spoke about totally resonated with me.
Tracy Manu spoke of celebrating our uniqueness, living in the present, and that what you put out there, what you say to others, how you respond to others, is really ‘the you’ that you are creating and putting out there. When someone says ‘how are you’ and you respond with ‘busy’, ‘chaotic’ or ‘stressed’, which lets face it, we all are, it’s also how you then continue your train of thought, being ‘busy and stressed’ is what you will continue to focus on. Basically erasing negativity from your vocab can be all it takes to change your attitude and your way of thinking. I mean constantly verbalising negativity all the time, just cannot be healthy right? This definitely resonated with me. I can find myself not even focussing on a movie I’m watching, or enjoying my surroundings on the weekend, because all I’m doing is thinking about what I have to get done, how busy I am, what’s stressing me out, and it’s generally because that’s the last thing I’ve said to someone, it’s the last thing I’ve verbalised and so that’s what has stayed in my mind – stress and chaos. Tracy’s key points – be you, be present, appreciate what you have, what you’ve achieved, and above all – take some time out to reflect on all the positive and fabulous things that are right in front of you! Surround yourself with beautiful things (this doesn’t have to mean extravagant things), but simple things like scented candles, beautiful blooms, things that make you feel good and make you smile! Appreciate the little things, maybe it’s as small as ticking one thing of your ‘to do’ list. There are so many things that I realise “I am” pretty damn happy about! That I’ve made it through hardships, I’ve made it through things I didn’t think I could get through, I’m proud of my achievements and I have great stuff going on around me all the time – sometimes I’ve just forgotten to see and absorb it. So going forward, if you see me out and about and if you ask me how “I am”, call me on it if I respond with “busy or stressed’, cause actually, I’m doin pretty awesome!
Tracy Manu
Kat spoke of what inspires her and how she came to realise that the simplest of gestures can be all it takes to make a difference in someones elses life. Her heartwarming story of a simple gesture, (of gifting a piece of her jewellery to someone going through an incredibly trying time) talked to not only reaching out to someone, in turn making them feel special, it also cemented that what she does, her passion (creating jewellery) is something she can be incredibly proud of, it makes a difference, and it’s what makes her the person she is today.
Kat Gee
So, I guess you can see where this is all going, it all summed up the new “I am” Kagi collection beautifully.
Kagi’s new ‘I am’ range is a bold, confident mix of capsule collections that extend upon Kagi’s bestsellers and introduce even more innovative designs. ‘I am’ is in essence about empowering women every day to celebrate their own unique sense of self.
Kat states “I design Kagi to suit women and our busy lifestyle. Kagi is a multi- tasker that can easily be transformed to match any mood, moment or occasion. Jewellery is an outward expression of who you are and who you want to be, empowering women every day to celebrate their own unique sense of self, and allowing their personal style to shine”.
The new range boasts numerous capsule collections, scheduled for release over the coming months.
Showcasing such a diverse and stunning new offering, the ‘I am’ collection is set to launch a new era of Kagi women across New Zealand and Australia.
My heart skips a beat at the mere thought of a fashion runway show, so you can imagine my delight when I realised that the third annual ’10 Days of Fashion in the City’ is just around the corner (starts Thursday 27 February). If a fashion extravaganza sets your heart-a-flutter too, then you’ll definitely want to read on because we’ve got all the details of a show stopping 125m-long catwalk down the middle of Queen Street, a launch event at a breathtaking height of 192m and a full calendar of events taking place throughout the ‘10 Days of Fashion in the City’ festival, brought to you by Resene.
From ‘The Height of Fashion’ launch event at The Sugar Club, two days of fashion shows in Britomart, a pop-up NZ Fashion Museum exhibition, free fashion movies, an exclusive outdoor fashion show from Workshop and a George FM-hosted wrap party, Auckland’s central city is set to live up to its reputation as the country’s premier fashion destination.
Funded and managed by Heart of the City and supported by partnerships with Resene, Viva, George FM and Schwarzkopf, ‘10 Days of Fashion in the City’ offers a selection of impressive shows, parties and celebrations, and provides shoppers an opportunity to take advantage of more than 100 in-store offers at participating retailers.
A highlight event that’s set to rewrite the record books will be New Zealand’s Longest Catwalk presented by Schwarzkopf, a 125m-long catwalk show that will take the place of a section of Queen Street’s bustling traffic for an afternoon. Heart of the City Events & Sponsorship Manager, Jane Stewart gave us a little insight into what we can expect… “40 models will parade 80 in-season outfits styled by Kylie Cooke (NZ’s Top Model and X-Factor) from the city’s most coveted boutiques and fashion retailers including the likes of Huffer, Coach, Smith & Caughey’s, Max, Moochi, Barkers, Glassons and many more, right down the middle of the country’s most famous street,”
The free catwalk event, hosted by Shannon Ryan, will take place between Shortland Street and Wyndham Street.
Before the Queen Street catwalk takes the spotlight, the ‘10 Days of Fashion in the City’ will kick off in high style with a luncheon in the sky. The exclusive event at The Sugar Club by Peter Gordon at the top of the Sky Tower will see guests meet designers including Trelise Cooper, Adrian Hailwood, Yvonne Bennetti and Kathryn Wilson as well as seeing their designs on show.
The next day sees the return of the Britomart Fashion Sessions, a two-day event featuring six runway shows from 12 New Zealand and international designers showcasing their Autumn/Winter 2014 collections. The shows will take place in Britomart’s Atrium on Takutai shopping gallery and will celebrate some of the precinct’s favourite labels, including Trelise Cooper, WORLD, Juliette Hogan, Federation and more. Check out the video to get a feel for what you can expect to see:
Fashion takes a less traditional form than the usual catwalk shows for ‘Hello, We Are The New Zealand Fashion Museum’ a free exhibition featuring four unique fashion heritage stories at Silo Park in Wynyard Quarter.
If you just want to sit back, relax and put your feet up, you can catch one of four free fashion themed movies at venues around the city. Valentino: The Last Emperor, The September Issue, Bill Cunningham: New York and Annie Hall will inspire viewers with their different takes on fashion.
Stewart goes on to say “And if you’ve still got some gas left in the tank, we’ll be celebrating the end of our 10-day extravaganza with one hell of a party hosted by George FM at Britomart Country Club.” concludes Stewart.
With goodie bags for the first 50 guests and free entertainment with Aroha from George FM spinning sweet tunes, the party promises a great wrap-up for ‘10 Days of Fashion in the City’.
Introducing my latest love – Peter Alexander’s new collection, based on a certain Audrey Hepburn movie, aptly named “Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Yip, Cupid aimed his bow and arrow and I’m totally smitten. If you haven’t already started dropping hints for Valentine’s Day, you soon will be once you’ve seen Peter Alexander’s new range, and it’s in store now.
Peter Alexander bought the rights to the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and in doing so created the most stunning capsule collection based on the movie. Not only is each and every piece absolutely delightful in its own right, add to this delicate printed silk, fabulous imagery and don’t even get me started on the packaging!
Peter totally won my heart with his latest collection, not only because it’s based on one of my favourite movies, and features one of my favourite hollywood starlets – Audrey Hepburn, Mr Alexander manages to capture, sexy, fun, & flirty all in one fabulous collection, there’s even something for your little one (perfect if you’re not expecting Cupid to come a knockin on February the 14th, but still want to celebrate your love for someone special).
Check out the new Breakfast at Tiffany’s capsule collection…
Valentine kisses xx
