Trip the light fantastic with MAC Cosmetic’s spring/summer 2015 trends…
As makeup artists are playing with lightness both literally – light colour, tone, texture and touch – and metaphorically, as a mood, an easy, optimistic attitude pervades the new season. For if there’s one message to channel into makeup from all the early 70’s references governing the fashion, it’s freedom. Freedom to be yourself, freedom to have fun with it and freedom to look to the future.
Understatement is still an important thought (and skill); trying too hard (or wearing too much…) has been as passe as studious perfection for a few seasons now. Yet while SS15 might, at first glance, appear to riff rather resolutely on ‘natural,’ look closer and a diversity of choices is revealed. The commonality between them all is their exploration of how to open up the face.
As MAC Cosmetics’ James Molloy & Kiekie Stanners explained last week at the MAC Trends presentation; spring/summer 2015 is all about a natural look, the 70’s vibe, and light; not just any light or sheen on the cheeks, but more, an ethereal glow swept across the face as if you’ve been kissed by a thousand fairies, on all the angles of your face that the sun would naturally hit. Here are some of our favourite looks (although, let’s be honest, when it comes to MAC – they’re ALL our favourite looks)…
