I wouldn’t call it stalking exactly, buuuuut, I guess it kinda comes close when you know you would literally follow [see: hunt down] your hairdresser ANYWHERE. I knew my amazing hair stylist – Kurtis Counsell, was moving to a new salon but I had no idea where, and yes that terrified me. I mean what if he moved to another city? What if he, gulp, left the country? What if he went to a salon that I’ve been to before (prior to finding Kurt of course) that I never wanted to return to? I know it would still be Kurt doing my hair so it shouldn’t matter the salon he is at so long as he’s still my hair stylist, BUT, call me shallow – it really did matter to me that he went to a salon that I deemed amazing, and one that I’d want to ‘hang out at’. Which brings me to the big unveiling of where Kurt has moved to….
That’s right – my hairdresser extraordinaire, otherwise known as Kurt, is now at the UBER-COOL Hair Salon DRY & TEA, based in the City Works Depot! [Cue girly squeals of delight!!] Seriously, I have been dying to try out Dry & Tea since it opened, but as you know, I won’t visit a hair salon unless it comes with a side of Kurt!
So I gave Kurt some time to find his feet at his new hair salon before I bombarded him with all my hair needs since I last visited him…. Ok I gave him a day! 24 hours is long enough right? I just really wanted to check out the slick new headquarters and see what they had to offer – ‘scope it out’ as they say. I turned up on Dry & Tea’s doorstep on Kurt’s 2nd day of work and he kindly showed me around and talked me through everything they have to offer, and let me tell you, this is a FULL SERVICE SALON! From cuts and colours, belliage, tints and foils, through to mani’s, lash application and a styling bar to get you looking red-carpet ready. They even hold ‘high tea’, group bookings and full service catering!! (oh, and a lil something for the boys, should they wish to indulge in a beer or perhaps a glass of whiskey, they have that too!).

Tea and treats – don’t mind if I do!!

Oh hi there Mr Al Brown (stopping in for tea and a quick bite to eat at Dry & Tea)
Firstly, before I show you their fabulous ‘menu’, yup, I said menu, let me just say that this salon is beyond cool. They have their very own on-site café for goodness sake – how cool is that?! They have such beautiful surroundings – I mean they are situated in THE most happening location, next to The Food Truck and Best Ugly Bagels (two of my fave new places), there’s ample parking, they’re central so it’s super handy and the vibe they have going on is hip and edgy, yet still relaxed and inviting. I’m heading back to see Kurt tomorrow for a real appointment (no turning up outta the blue this time) so I can report back with more on Dry & Tea real soon, but in the meantime – check out their full-service ‘menu’ and all the fabulous things on offer…
So, If you’re looking for a new hairdresser, or just need a hairdresser full stop, head to Dry & Tea and ask for Kurt – maybe even let him know I sent you and see what he can do for you! As they say at Dry & Tea – The world is full of moments. This moment is focused on you! So focus on you and head to Dry & Tea for some beautifying pampering!

I know right Anna?! SO AMAZING! I know they are expanding so you just never know. I so hope they do launch in Wellington, just for you 🙂 It’s like a little wonderland in there I tell ya. I’m going to base myself there (they have wifi ha haaaa) for NZFW so that I don’t have to travel all the way home between shows (and secretly because I just want to hang out there)
