All That Glitters….

Yesterday media attended the Sunglass Hut launch event to preview their new ‘The Glittering Holiday’ 2013 Eyewear Collection.

Sunglasses are glistening this season as The Sunglass Hut tells the upcoming season’s story of how to turn heads with all that glitters.  Dolce & Gabbana eyewear is styled with gold accents & precious metals, flecked with gold leaf and sprinkled with glitter.  Performance wear has extra flair and classic Ray Ban & Burberry framework is zhooshed with metallic accents!  Prepare to be dazzled with their new range adorned in all that glitters and shines – they are absolutely stunning!

Prior to being introduced to the Sunglass Hut range, I’ve always have the same complaint “Sunglasses just don’t suit me’!  In the past I would spend hours trying on hundreds of frames with no luck whatsoever and because of this I have pretty much just stuck to my tried and true Versace sunnies and my ASOS Retro Clear Frames (which I’ve now donned for far too long).  However, somehow the team at BeatPR always seem to point me in the direction of a pair from the Sunglass Hut range that I completely fall in love with in a matter of seconds, and astonishingly – they’re a pair that actually suit me.  At the last collection viewing they had me obsessing over a pair of Burberry Nude Framed sunnies, and this time around, I’ve fallen for a pair of large-framed Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses flecked with gold leaf accent.

Check out some of the snaps from the event, which includes my new ‘must-have’ pair of sunglasses…

The Shopping Edit & Committing The Ultimate Fashion Sin…

boohoo.com, fashion editorial, fashion, shopping edit, WIWT, OOTD, fashion blog nz, stye blog nz, beauty blog nz, fashion media nz, beauty media nz, kimono, jumpsuit, sneakers, accessories, rose gold, heels, shoes, angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted.com

So I did a little online shopping [see: ‘a lot’ of online shopping] on boohoo.com last week and I’ve pulled together a shopping edit – a little sneak peek at what I purchased, of which arrived on my doorstep this week.  Now before you go judging me when you see these items, as mentioned in the title, yes I have officially committed the ultimate fashion sin! I bought two items with exactly the same fabric and print. Now I just want to justify my actions by clarifying that I absolutely WILL NOT be wearing these two items with the same fabric and print, together! Ever!

It’s literally taken me weeks to try to decide which piece to buy out of the two, meanwhile I had other items sitting in my basket that I didn’t want to miss out on. So in typical ‘me’ fashion, I gave up trying to make a choice and bought both. I promise these will never be worn as a combo!

Now that I feel like I’ve justified myself – here is my boohoo.com shopping edit…

1 boohoo.com Boutique Sandrine oriental print jumpsuit  This is pretty much going to be my ‘go to’ jumpsuit in spring/summer. Everything about this jumpsuit is divine! I love the floaty fabric, zip detailing and the racerback styling.   You can find this on boohoo.com HERE.

boohoo.com Lucille Gold Metallic Trim Hi Top Wedge  (or snedges as we like to call them). The snedges trend has been pretty big this winter and continues to grow.  I’m looking forward to rocking these with skirts and dresses throughout the warmer season.  The rose-gold accent gives these just a little more edge than the typical everyday snedge.  You can find these on boohoo HERE. (admittedly there aren’t too many sizes left in this sneaker style, so if you’re considering purchasing these – get in quick!)

boohoo.com Leah Peeptoe Knot Front Glitter Heels  I love a peeptoes, and these heels in a muted tone with glitter accent are the perfect nude heels to dress up any outfit.  You can find them on boohoo HERE.

boohoo.com Natalie Blue And Gold Plate Earrings  This colour combo is one of my favourite accessory looks for spring/summer and will go with pretty much everything. The perfect ‘drop-length’ and look for the chic boho vibe. You can find these on boohoo HERE.

5 boohoo.com Amy Stud Detail Clutch Bag  I am obsessed with this clutch in the perfect tan hue.  It comes with a detachable strap so its going to be a pretty universal piece, and the colour (my obsession in bag colour) works with any outfit.  The detailing is chic and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this during fashion week and right throughout spring and summer.  You can find this on boohoo HERE.

6 boohoo.com Jess Kimono Long Sleeve Jacket  This is probably my favourite of all the pieces I bought! With kimono’s being the biggest fashion trend for spring/summer this is going to give me a LOT of wear.  I’m planning on teaming it with a black jumpsuit (no, not my matching jumpsuit) and nude heels for an uber-cool dressy look, and paired with dress-shorts or jeans for a chic daytime look.  You can find this on boohooHERE.

I hope this Shopping Edit gave you a little Spring/Summer style inspiration, or at least a glimpse into what I’m loving for the upcoming season.

Happy Shopping!

For The Love Of Handbags & Travel Accessories…

Everme.co.nz, everme, handbags, bags, handbags online nz, everme nz, fashion, accessories, fashion blog nz, beauty blog nz, style blog nz, fashion media nz, beauty media nz, angie fredatovich, gurlinterrupted

Forget ‘what’s in my handbag’ blog posts – what I’m wanting to talk about is ‘my new handbag’ and where I got it!  A couple of months ago I was informed of a new website called www.everme.co.nz It’s jam-packed with all the bag-eye-candy anyone could ever wish for – in fact there’s so many amazing bags and travel accessories that it’s literally taken me weeks to choose my new handbag (there were so many I wanted!!).  EverMe is a handbag store based right here in NZ (Tauranga to be exact) owned by two brothers who clearly have fabulous taste.  Everme.co.nz stocks all the brands you know and love, plus many more you may not have even heard of yet.  From your designer brands – Coach, Michael Kors and Fossil right through to mainstream collections such as Nine West, Melie Bianco, Kardashian Kollection and many more!  The site is user-friendly and easy to navigate, I’d say the hardest things about EverMe is deciding which handbag to buy.

I guess some people might ask – why shop for a handbag online when you can just get one in-store?  The answer is simple – I’ve got a pretty hectic schedule – work, blogging and a tonne of media events and launches to attend, which in turn means needing to plan well in advance – not just my writing schedule, but also what I’m wearing to events (accessories included of course) and if I can do this online, I’m all in!  As a freelance writer and blogger, majority of my time is spent online  so it makes sense that I shop online too, which I guess is what inevitably led me to EverMe.co.nz, it’s just super convenient! They have free shipping and you get $10 off your first purchase when you sign up.

So, on to my handbag – the Melie Bianco – Samy Large Hobo with Tassle (in taupe).  I LOVE my bag of choice so much – I couldn’t be happier! I wanted a large boho style bag for spring/summer (I adore large/oversized bags) and this Melie Bianco Samy hobo bag fits the bill perfectly.  A testament to the everlasting charm of bohemian style with rose-gold hardware, a detachable tassel, detachable double handles, internal zips and pouches and the most gorgeous polka-dot lining…

For the love of handbags head on over to everme.co.nz to find your new Spring/Summer handbag!  I promise, you will fall in love with this site.  Best of all – it’s based in NZ (online of course) and we’re all about supporting our NZ stores!  Thanks EverMe – I’m in handbag heaven!!

Last week fashion media were invited to view The Warehouse Spring Collection.  Awash with all the colours you’d expect to see in Spring and Summer, we are once again in for a great season of on-trend from Garage, Maya, Active Intent and of course their beautiful accessories and lingerie ranges – H&H and Rose & Thorne.

Keep an eye out for Garage’s two key trends: Varsity Girl and Mod Love which are influenced by American college wear.  They feature a range of baseball style jackets, swing dresses and of course the ever popular monochrome trend. My favourite being the ‘kenzo-inspired’ sweatshirt in navy blue.  Check out some of our highlights in snaps, along with a few of our favourite pieces:

Ahhh, ya gotta love the guys from ‘I Love Ugly’!!  They captured my attention with the release of their ‘Zespy pants’ – my guy hunted them down the moment I showed him them and ever since he has been a huge fan, and now they’ve created a pretty damn slick watch collection.

The I Love Ugly Frankie Watch Collection

Drawing on an appreciation for all things classic, I Love Ugly have re-appropriated nautical and battle themed paintings by placing the unique imagery within their watch designs.  The Frankie watch series features a new watch casing that is designed to be comfortable without compromising style!

I’m a little partial to mens watches myself actually (I think a masculine watch on women looks uber-cool) so I think I’ll be tracking one of these down, either for my guy, or myself (the latter is probably more accurate – and honest).

Meadowlark Stacker Rings

meadowlark stacker rings

Meadowlark stacker rings

In an extension of their ever-popular Stacker Rings series, Meadowlark has released a new edition for Autumn/Winter 13.

From geometric to whimsical, this collection is full of playful symbols that are suggestions rather than statements: a delicate Protea blossom, a tiny anchor that won’t way you down, a twinkling little star, a wee diamond that proves size isn’t everything.

Linking back flawlessly to the previous editions of charms as necklaces, bracelets and stud earrings, these versatile Stacker Rings in silver and gold are perfect to wear on their own for subtle adornment or stacked for more drama – either with the seven-piece stacker ring set or in a playful trio, grouped to tell your own tale.

Meadowlark Stacker Rings

The new Stacker Rings are available for pre-order now online at www.meadowlarkjewellery.com and will arrive in-store early February 2013 to key MEADOWLARK stockists New Zealand wide.

Nostalgems…

Quite some time ago I came across a gorgeous treasure trove of vintage jewellery, which selfishly I kept to myself.  But upon revisiting their online store I’ve decided it’s just too damned good not to share…. Nostalgems – charming yet affordable high-street jewellery created from vintage finds, objet trouvé and forgotten curiosities.

Think ordinary and discarded articles reborn as engaging wearable objet d’arts.  Old and new bits and bobs mingled together to make something that invites conversation!

I could literally get lost for hours trawling through the treasure trove that is Nostalgems.  From a tiny dandelion captured in a bottle, French love quotes on a chain & time-worn rosebuds delicately dangling from a charm bracelet, through to miniature vintage keys and an old floral sixpence – these pieces have already captured by heart!  The only downside to nostalgems is trying to decide what piece you love more – truly awe-inspiring, reminiscent of your grandmother’s family heirlooms!!

You can find Nostalgems on Facebook here or head straight to the Nostalgems website – but prepare to lose time in a jewellery wonderland.

Latest in Beauty: Urban Decay & Benefit Cosmetics

I’m a little excited with my latest beauty product haul, in particular, Urban Decay and Benefit.  If I’m being completely honest, ‘a little excited’ is probably down playing it just a tad, so I thought I would share my wee haul with you lovelies, because these items are worth blogging about and I have no qualms in recommending them.  They are tried and true, ok not the Smoked Palette because that’s new, but the liners are my staples and if you can get your hands on them, do it – you will LOVE them.

My good friend Nat finally arrived back in NZ after jet setting around the world for the last few months and whilst jet setting, managed to tick off all the items on my shopping list (see, I told you she’s a good friend!!).  At the top of my list, other than my Michael Kors Rose Gold Watch, of which I worship (see pic below) are my Urban Decay goodies.

The first Urban Decay liner is the 24/7 Glide-On Waterproof Eye Pencil in Bourbon.  This brown liner is creamy and smooth and applies like a dream!  There’s a slight shimmer to it and it completes the perfect smokey eye look.  The next three liners are the Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliners.  Colours: Perversion (black), Demolition (brown) and Revolver (a metallic gun-metal grey).  These liners, once applied, don’t budge or smudge, nor do they peel off (like some liquid liners tend to – ugh!).  It’s like applying a liquid metal to your eye and the quality is second to none.  You know my love of MAC Cosmetics – well, they surpass MAC liners in every way, shape and form.

My other eye-candy goodness is the Urban Decay SMOKED Palette.  Urban Decay produce amazing palettes (we all know the iconic Urban Decay NAKED Palette, of which sold out world-wide, twice!!) and the SMOKED Palette is no exception.  Zipped inside this sleek, mirrored case are ten decadent shades (five are exclusive), including neutral matte’s and shimmering jewel tones for a range of smoky looks. Sure, you can create a smoky eye with a range of gray and black shades. But what about a touch of green, blue or bronze? The Smoked Eyeshadow Palette lets you keep things simple… or get a little more creative.  Also included is a beautifully illustrated, step-by-step guide to 12 smoky eye looks, written by Urban Decay founder Wende Zomnir. Both smoky-eye pros and shadow newbies will benefit from this detailed guide.  I am SO happy with this purchase!

Colours: Kinky, Freestyle, Mushroom (my fav!!), Backdoor, Blackout, Barlust, Rockstar, Evidence, Loaded, Asphalt.

Last, but definitely not least – Sugarbomb by Benefit Cosmetics.  This  boxed blush is another of my repeat purchases.  A quad of shimmering colours that combined, are the perfect blush and/or cheekbone highlighter.

Beautiful, shimmery, ‘cheekbone popping’ goodness!  Benefit’s Sugarbomb looks great on all skin tones; and in summer – truly divine!

So that’s my little beauty haul, hope you enjoyed it 🙂    Now, although completely irrelevant to the beauty blog above, I leave you with an image of my new love, my arm candy, my Michael Kors Baguette-Bezel Rose Gold Watch *swoon*.

I’d love to hear of your beauty product ‘must-haves’ and/or recommendations, hey, what beauty junkie doesn’t want to hear about gems they’ve not discovered yet right?!  So leave a comment and I’ll be sure and check them out.

DIY – How to Make Your Own Clipless Curling Iron

DIY – Removing the Clip from Your Curling Irons

I love long ‘beachy waves’ created by using curling tongs, what I don’t love is the ‘weird little crimped bit at the end of your hair that seems to have a mind of it’s own’ caused by using a curling iron with a clip!  Now, I have a great curling iron (obviously aside from the fact it’s of the  ‘crimp making’ variety due to it having a clip); and  it wasn’t exactly cheap, so the last thing I wanted to do was go and spend more money on another curling iron so that I could have the clipless one (which for some reason, perhaps it’s because these are generally the ones used by hair stylists on celebrities, is remarkably pricier than a curling iron with a clip); and that’s when I decided to take to my curling iron with a Phillips screwdriver and DIY that bad boy into a clipless curling iron!

WHY IS A CURLING IRON WITHOUT A CLIP FAR SUPERIOR?

Benefits:

  • Less damage to your hair, aka, the dreaded split ends (caused by the ends of your hair being held the longest against the tong under the clip).
  • No creases, bumps or ‘weird crimpy bits’ from the where the clip was holding your hair; and that little bend in your hair gets heated into place, just like the curl does, so you know it’s there to stay around as long as the curl does.

So, since summer is nearly here, *YAY*, I decided its time to share my easy DIY guide to making your own ‘clip-free’ Curling Iron……

STEP ONE: Remove the clip-stand – this is easy, you literally just pull from one side and this will detach itself from the curling iron (some have small screws holding it in place, if this is the case, simply unscrew and remove)

STEP TWO:  Remove the screws securing the clip (in most cases this can be done using a Phillips screwdriver)

STEP THREE: Remove the clip and spring (the spring is directly underneath the clip) from your curling iron

Voila!!  You have your very own Curling Wand (or Clipless Curling Iron if you so prefer); and can now create your perfect ‘Kardashian style beachy waves’.

You’re welcome 😉

Should you ever wish to reattach the clip to your curling iron, simply reverse the steps shown above, so keep all the parts together in a safe place for future use.

Fashion Dipped in Metal

Fashion Dipped in Metal……..

Many designers have taken to dipping their beautiful creations in liquid metal for Spring/Summer 2012/13, creating a wonderful mix of structured and floaty metallic masterpieces.

The great thing about metallics is that its a versatile trend that can be glammed up or dressed down. For a more casual look, this can be achieved by simply teaming a pair of jeans, a plain white t-shirt and blazer with a metallic clutch or metallic shoes. For a more glam look, a metallic dress teamed with a beautiful pair of nude heals achieves an effortless edgy look.

These are my key tips to wearing metallics without getting lost in a sea of metal:

  • Keep accessories to a minimum. Since metallics pack a significant punch all on their own, there’s no need to go overboard with accessories.
  • Pair your metallics with neutrals
  • Wear 1 metallic piece at a time

My current obsession is rose gold (Michael Kors Baguette-Bezel Rose Gold Watch – you shall be mine!!!!) so Im in heaven amongst the metallic trend that’s currently hitting the runways.  A few fab metallic finds:
